We stayed in Derek's studio for a mini getaway from the city. Even though the place seemed smaller than other Airbnbs at this price point, I was convinced from the prior reviews that this place would be incredibly clean- and it exceeded my expectations. As others have mentioned, the fully enclosed yard was also a big draw for us. Check in was really easy and we parked right outside on the street. The space was immaculate, the bed and sheets were super comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped. There was no need to really get in touch with Derek during the trip, as we had everything we needed, though I know he could be easily reached if needed. I would definitely recommend this place to folks looking for a quiet and luxurious stay, albeit in a smaller space.

Great cute little place for two! Bathroom is absolutely wonderful. If you like cable keep in mind there are limited tv channels. Otherwise this is an amazing little bungalow and we will definitely be coming back!

This is my favorite airbnb experience ever. The cottage was small but very clean and it was stuffed with all kinds of goodies. The bed is amazingly comfortable, and everything is well thought out and top notch quality. My suggestion is to bring some house slippers as the studio has wood floors, and a nice non-stick frying pan if you are planning to use the stove. The refrigerator is not full size, so don't bring too much stuff with you. Plenty of places to dine in walking distance though. We absolutely loved our stay, and hope to return in the future.

Nice place, really needed blinds for the skylights, was inefficient and tough on the AC, went to home depot the first day and got stick-on blinds for them. Great yard for the dog and thank you for being so cool with the payment situation. Great bathroom and the bikes were a huge plus, even though they are a bit girly. Somewhat loud being right on a busy street but all in all an amazing place, thanks for everything! take care! -Alan

We had a wonderful stay at this perfect studio! The location was ideal, and the private yard was wonderful for just sitting and enjoying the sun as well as playing fetch with our dog. Derek's home is very clean, spacious, and well-appointed. There are all the comforts of home and the space is maximized very well. The bathroom is larger than ours at home, and the shower is great! I can't say enough good things about this place. It was a wonderful find and the perfect place for us to stay for a weekend getaway/friend's wedding. Derek was excellent at communicating and thoughtful. The studio had nice touches, such as coffee and sparkling water left for us to enjoy. We were grateful to have gotten the chance to stay here - so much better than a hotel!

We had a nice stay in Derek's place over Easter weekend. They've done a great job making the space comfortable and provided many amenities, both in the kitchen and bathroom. The bed was really comfortable, with plenty of pillows and blankets. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The home is nicely decorated, quiet, the large yard was a lovely place to enjoy coffee, and there are restaurants, bars and some shopping within walking distance. The location is central to a lot of activities, we were never more than 20 minutes from what we wanted to do. Also, it's nice that the door unlocks with a code, so we didn't need to worry about keys, especially since we got there late. We were worried about parking being on the street, but there is plenty of it, and we were always able to park right next to the place. My suggestions for packing are to bring slippers, because the floors are laminate wood and tile without rugs (not a complaint, I like that the floors were very clean), and if you're a late sleeper bring a sleep mask because there are skylights and the room brightens early (it was cool to lie in bed and see the moon and stars at night, and the clouds blow by in the morning). Definitely an enjoyable place to stay and would suggest it to anyone heading up to the Soquel/Capitola/Santa Cruz area.

Hi there, my wife and I were both born and raised in Santa Cruz. I'm a assistant fleet manager for a construction company and my wife Emily owns a local high end hair salon. When we travel we like to stay in fancy places and have high expectations, we built this studio with the same standards. We love food and wine tasting. In our spare time we both enjoy working on our house, classic cars, motorcycles and our animals. One of our all-time favorite things to do is relax in the sun with a glass of wine and our little dog Lulu.
