The property is a small rural hotel with a restoraunt/bar. The owners were very responsive, and cooked us (a couple) late dinner. The room, ensuite, was clean. The breakfast (complete traditional) was good too. Valentina, who we met, was very nice and informative, and there were also some info leaflets on the desk. The only negative point is that the wifi was not available neither in our room nor the dining room, leaving only main guestroom or the hall.

We were warmly welcomed, also by the dog. The hotel is basic; not luxurious; it may need some upgrade. But it fits greatly in the surrounding wuthering heights. There are vast heather fields, beaks, mountains and valleys. I understand why the royal family spends vacations at Easter Balmoral, just 10 miles away. The east route through Cairngorms National Park is beautiful; take your time to make a few short walks.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful highland setting with great views of the surrounding countryside and the local castle. The hosts made us very welcome. The room was compact and comfortable and is what you would expect in an old authentic country pub.

We had a great time staying with Euan, his hospitality and local knowledge made for a fantastic evening spent chatting over a wonderful meal prepared by his chef. The room was great but the company made the stay extremely memorable.

The old hotel in the highlands is a comfortable, family friendly place, and it is because of the friendly, helpful staff. Thanks!

Myself and my wife Valentina rub the two hotels between us.
The Allargue, locally known as Briggies, is small with stunning views over the Cairngorm mountains, river don and Corgarff castle.
The Coulquhonnie is a bit bigger and livelier, overlooking the river don and just outside Strathdon village - only took this on march 2016.
