About this listing
Come and enjoy the quiet of our private cottage suite. Our property is canopied by native oak trees and is a natural sanctuary for all sorts of birds and small wildlife.
“Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
We are elevated above the road below and enjoy complete privacy on three sides with beautiful views of the Santa Lucia Mountains.
Our guest suite has a private entrance with your own parking space right in front. It has a large living room and a very sweet bedroom, both of which are adjoined to the main house but are entirely private. The bathroom is a mere 12 steps outdoors from your room and around the corner, located in the main house but completely private for your use only. Just outside your back door is your private Garden Terrace - a perfect place to enjoy your complimentary bottle of wine in the evening, or your complimentary Keurig coffee in the morning!
We are located right in the heart of Carmel Valley Village and its 25 wine tasting rooms, gourmet restaurants, and magnificent beauty. There is access to Garland Regional Park, literally right across the street, and its miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails. Also, in mid Carmel Valley is the fabulous Refuge Spa, as part of the Carmel Valley Athletic Club.
Plus, we're close to just about everything on the Monterey Peninsula: 15 minutes to Carmel-by-the-Sea; 20 minutes to Pebble Beach; 25 minutes to Old Monterey, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Cannery Row; 30 minutes to Pacific Grove; 15 minutes to Laguna Seca Raceway; and 25 minutes to Point Lobos and the headlands of magnificent Big Sur. There is even a public bus stop right here in the Village.
It's hard to think of the Monterey Peninsula without conjuring up images of the famous golf courses like Pebble Beach, Spanish Bay, Spyglass Hill and Cypress Point. Then there are the fabulous courses just up the road from us, including Carmel Valley Ranch, Quail Lodge and Rancho Canada. Plus, there are many more in the general area (and some are incredibly reasonable to play!).
We've lived in the our home here in the Village for 12 years now and love it more every year. We're sure you'll enjoy your stay with us and look forward to helping you make the most of your visit. We can be flexible in accommodating your needs to make your visit as perfect as possible - so please ask what we can do for you!
If you would like a longer stay with us, our weekly and monthly rates are steeply discounted to make for a real bargain!
“Rise free from care before the dawn, and seek adventures.” - Henry David Thoreau

Interaction with guests

Our neighborhood is semi-rural, with nature defining the overall feel of the area. We live outside of the fog belt which can dominate the weather for periods of time right next to the ocean. We are sunny almost every day!
Though about 15 minutes to "town", our Village has most every amenity you may need.
Public bus in the Carmel Valley Village (just up the street from us) can take you into the Monterey Peninsula cities - Carmel, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Seaside.
Cab service is available and Uber is very handy here.

I've been retired now for about four years. My last profession was as an RN at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. Prior to that I spent over twenty years in the food service industry and dabbled in a number of other things. My wife, Sue, is a nursing school instructor at the Monterey Peninsula College and a Nurse Practitioner. Our son Cole is in eighth grade at Carmel Middle School.
We've lived in the Monterey area for almost twenty years now and bought our wonderful home in Carmel Valley in 2003. We've been remodeling it ever since and are very proud of what we've accomplished - with the outdoor spaces being natural extensions of the indoor living areas.
As lovers of fine places to live and visit, we have a good sense of what makes for memorable times while away from home. We love gourmet food and wine, the beauty and inspiration of nature, and generally enjoy "the good life". Carmel Valley is where we have settled because we can't think of anywhere else that offers such a perfect combination of weather, beauty, amenities and proximity to all we love.
