I cannot suggest the Gate House enough. It is absolutely beautiful! It felt like home there; we were instantly relaxed and comfortable. The winery itself is a dream as well. The property is stunning and you have full access to wander the grounds. We enjoyed the quiet evening strolls after-hours and our pup loved being there with us. There is a really nice off-leash dog park about 7 min drive away as well. It is secluded, however, it is also centrally located! Cambria is just 15ish miles away, there is also a dog beach about a 20 min drive from Cambria in Cayucos. Also, there are lots of dog-friendly restaurants and wineries all around. We had no trouble taking our pup with us everywhere we went. Oh, and Hearst Castle is right down the freeway too! It's perfect if you want to get away from it all, but also want to adventure out. Joe was a wonderful host; kind, accommodating, quick to respond and very welcoming. We feel so rejuvenated and refreshed. The Gate House is far enough from the winery that we were totally undisturbed by the guests. You really feel like you have your own private escape in a magical vineyard. I hope you check out the Gate House for yourself!

We had a wonder stay at the gate house. The vineyard grounds were picturesque and we enjoyed walking around the pond in the evening with our dog. The patio tables and chairs were perfect for having our morning coffee and evening glass of wine. The location is convenient for hitting the wineries and only a short 30 min drive to the coast or Hearst Castle. Joe was very communicative and even invited us for a free tasting of their wine. Unfortunately we were not able to take advantage of his offer... but we will certainly do so the next time we visit! Only 2 cautions about staying here- 1) the stairs to the bedroom are steep so if you are older or have bad knees this might not be the best place for you, 2) there is some occasional traffic noise that can be heard from the nearby street. It did not prevent me from falling asleep, but light sleepers may want to bring along some earplugs if they are sensitive to that. All in all a great stay and we can't wait to return!

Joe's place was wonderful! We were out away from city life which is what we wanted. The lake was peaceful and we went on a walk to the top of the hill on the property, which was great. Everything was very clean.

My friend and I had a fabulous time staying at Joe and Janine's gate house! We brought a small dog who loved exploring the property. Joe and Janine stayed in great communication with us, including adjusting our check in time due to traffic and responding quickly when we blew a fuse. The location is a great home base for exploring the Paso Robles area. We ended our day at the wineries with a tasting and chat with Joe and Janine in the tasting room and it was a highlight. It was fun to learn more about the winery and they sent us off with eggs from their chickens! The only small issue was that there is no wifi in the gatehouse (which is clear in the posting) and our cell phones had very poor service. As long as you're prepared to be a little off the grid for the night, I would highly recommend!

Great place to spend the weekend for a trip to Paso. Winery with tasting room on site is a big bonus.

Fantastic place to enjoy nature and slow down a bit. The hosts couldn't have been more accomodating and friendly. Wish we could have stayed longer.

My wife and I loved our stay at this beautiful vineyard. We brought our 3 month old puppy and it was probably the highlight of his short life! There is a wonderful walk/hike up the hills with panoramic views of the area. We will be back!
