Comfortable practical place to stay when visiting the Somme battlefields. 10 mins drive from Albert & 15 mins from the first battle-sites. Helene was attentive and helpful.

This is an extremely well presented and clean barn conversion but it does have some safety issues regarding the staircases. The steps are not even and some are rather high and definitely not suitable for people with mobility problems. There is a trip hazard of a raised bar on the floor at the top of the stairs. This staircase would not meet UK building regulations. There is only one toilet and that is downstairs. This is bad news if you wish to use the toilet at night and must go down and up the difficult staircase. Parking is on the road outside but close to a road junction. We had to move our car when a convoy with an extra wide farm vehicle passed. Motorbikes and bicycles are okay as they can be taken inside the lovely barn door entrance. This barn door is locked so gives extra security. We had the use of a small table and chairs in the entrance area but otherwise there really is no garden to use. Helene the host is very friendly but has limited spoken English. This would be an ideal place for agile young people but not the elderly.

Helene made us very welcome. The loft was very clean and well stocked. We did not feel that 20 euros cleaning was very fair, as we were only there for 2 nights and hardly touched anything. Also we were required to strip the beds, which I definitely think should have been part of the cleaning charge. We also thought that the cleaning charge should have been stated when we paid the original bill. One of our party was over 80 years old and there was no upstairs toilet and very steep hard wooden stairs down to the toilet. The door on the toilet also did not shut. We also wondered why it is called 'Airbnb' as there was no breakfast offered to us. The loft was quite a way outside Albert, which again was not made clear to us.

Response from Helene:
Debs Hello, thank you for your frankness about the cleanliness of the comfortable cottage and my kindness. This is part of professionalism to be nice and welcoming travelers in a nickel loft, By against your deductible has not been pronounced upon departure ... When you leave, your eyes everything was perfect, so why revenge behind a pc screen, meditating ... I left my job to greet you at 15 h 00, so where is the problem? Let's go on the duvet, I wish as stated in the house and told orally upon arrival to all the sheets in the desired basket in the bathroom, this simply for checking cleanliness of bed on departure and why have I found two indelible stains on the duvet cover double bed 180 * 200 cm? Revenge .... or bad luck? That said franchise is weak .... About 20 euros, toilets, geographical position of the house etc .... all is said in the announcement, just do the translation of the announcement and everyone can understand advertisement for his favorite language! A staircase remains a staircase .... a stairlift would be your choice? With that, I plainds others who acueuilleront you on your next stay .... Qu'AirBnB sees my message that they realize things to its passengers, and confuse you 300% Bed & Breakfast competitor and AirBnB! .... Yours Debs, I would be happy to re-welcome you in my comfortable cottage **** in quiet countryside near Albert

We stayed here for six nights in May and had a wonderful time. The accommodation is two storey, in a converted barn within Helene's land/house. It comprises of a large living room / dining room / kitchen and downstairs loo, then upstairs two bedrooms (a twin and a double) with a large landing and very well equipped bathroom. I would not hesitate to stay here again; we had a wonderful time. Every requirement has been met from pots and pans to the washing machine. In the village of Treux, just a few minutes from everywhere.
