Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Nature lovers' paradise. Walk straight from the cottage into the countryside, without getting into your car, and explore hundreds of acres of National Trust woodland.
Our light, spacious cottage has 2 king size bedrooms and 2 shower rooms upstairs. Downstairs bedroom with 2 single beds and further shower room.
Enjoy a peaceful and comfortable stay in an idyllic Cornish woodland and pastural setting where we have spent many years creating a haven for native fauna and flora on our smallholding.

The space
The cottage is open plan between the kitchen/dining room, sitting room and spacious utility room. The downstairs bedroom with 2 single beds, is on the same level as the open plan area and immediately next door to a shower room with walk in shower and hand rails. Each of the upstairs bedrooms has its own shower room, one of which is ensuite. There is a cot on the landing which can easily be moved into either upstairs bedroom.
There is central heating and a wood burning stove, for which we supply free logs.
The garden is enclosed, level and facing south.

Guest access
The whole of the cottage is self contained and from it you can walk into fields which then lead directly into National Trust woodland.
Lots of parking in our yard which adjoins the property.

Other things to note
We allow up to 2 well behaved dogs to stay at the cottage. Please let us know the breed and ages of your dogs when you request to book.
Dogs are the only type of pets that we accept.
No parties at the cottage
No smoking/vaping whatsoever on site

Neighbourhood highlights

We are in a tiny hamlet called Newton situated in a rural area of East Cornwall. The countryside is ideal for walking and there are many footpaths and lanes through woodland and fields. Comfort Wood Cottage used to be a barn adjoining Newton Farm. It faces south and there is direct pedestrian access into our fields and then into National Trust Woodland. The nearest shop with fuel station (small Asda) is about 1.5 miles away. A small train runs between nearby Calstock and Plymouth and takes approx. 35 minutes. Our nearest town is Callington and has a full size supermarket. Plymouth city centre, by road, is 40 minutes and crosses the River Tamar via a toll bridge. The busy and interesting market town of Tavistock is 20 minutes by road. There are pubs within walking distance of the cottage and many other places to eat and drink within a short driving distance.
