About this listing

Tunich offers an amazing location from which to explore Tulum; our little jungle guesthouse provides immediate access to white sand beaches, a lively neighborhood, the pueblo of Tulum and many more local amenities.

The space

Tunich has five little cabañas tucked in behind our busy breakfast restaurant. You are only 30 feet to the sea – a quick walk across the beach road sees you at one of the prettiest white sand beaches in the world!

Tunich offers an excellent home base for people who love to explore the surrounding area during the day and flop into a pillow-top bed beneath a palapa roof at night. Our rooms are simple but comfortable and our no-frills approach allows us to offer some of the best prices in the hotel zone of Tulum. While the rooms are no-frills, our customer service is not... our staff (including the owners) are available to help make your time in Tulum memorable

The Room - AKIIN
Akiin is on the ground floor facing the cenote and garden. The room is equipped with a queen size bed, a fan and a private 3 piece bathroom.

The front of your jungle cabana is a wall of mosquito screen, which allows natural cooling (with a little assistance from a mounted fan to help circulate the air for added comfort).

The room has a private terrace with a hammock where you can enjoy a book, wifi or a lazy lounge with a drink. Ideal for couples or friends with no issues on sharing a bed!

Guest access

- Continental breakfast is included and is served in the restaurant starting at 7am each morning. (Restaurant closes at 7pm)
- Housekeeping is provided daily
- Beach towels are available at the front desk

Interaction with guests

Originally from the Canadian prairies, we fell in love with Tulum upon first sight. We are eager to make your stay in town as memorable and strive to add a personal touch. Supported by a wonderful local staff, we hope you have nothing but good things to say about our little piece of the Mayan Riveria!

Other things to note

- Bed linens and towels are changed only on request as one of our means of minimizing environmental impact
- Smoking is not allowed in the rooms
- Electricity is available 24hs but PLEASE NOTE THAT THE OUTLETS ARE STRICTLY FOR CHARGING PHONES AND DEVICES AND OPERATING THE SUPPLIED FANS. Plugging in any other devices (hair dryers etc) will crash our entire electrical system.

Brandy, Blaine, Eli + the entire staff of Tunich Cabanas....muchos muchos muchos gracias!!! Don't look or book anywhere else- TUNICH CABANAS ARE THE BEST!!! Our Tulum experience at Tunich was beyond special. We knew we found a Tulum gem from the moment we arrived. The email communications - so prompt and informative. This was appreciated so much especially with it being our first experience to Tulum. Our warm welcome on our arrival made you feel right at home. Eli- WE LOVE YOU! The accommodations are rustic and gorgeous... THE perfect location, so close to everything. AMAZING FOOD!!!! (Definitely BEST in Tulum guacamole- made with love) the coffee - to die for rich and delicious. All the personal recommendations from Blaine - 100% bang on and led us to all the tulum treasures. After spending hours on the beach, coming home to hydrate with a Boozie smoothie... c'mon- Tunich takes care!!! Delicious!!!! Most of all you are made to feel like part of the Tunich family. We are so grateful. Much love and so much gratitude.... xoxox Tunich will be the only place we stay for years to come!! Can't wait to see you again soon xoxoxo

This place is awesome! Close to the beach and all of the action of Tulum beach. Our room was perfect and the setting was lovely. It was awesome to wake up to good music and good vibes every morning and enjoy a nice cup of coffee in cafe. The staff was amazing and so gracious. Eli and Blaine gave us great recommendations regarding where to go and what to do. The best suggestion Blaine made was to rent a scooter. They are very affordable and a great way to get around and see the sights, not to mention a fabulous way to cool off from the heat. The music next door goes late into the night, which we loved, but if you're looking for a more quiet setting, it might be something to consider. Our room was clean and cozy and the perfect introduction to our holiday. I highly recommend staying here for the casual, laid-back vibe.

What an amazing place, located in the heart of Tulum and right across the street from the beach. Fantastic accommodations, great vibes and new friends made at Brandy and Blaine's place. Will be certainly staying with them again the next time I travel to Tulum!

It's a great spot situated perfectly for a stay in Tulum. Quick to get to the public beach, the ruins, and all the great restaurants. The cabanas are comfortable and clean, the included breakfast delicious, and the hosts are really helpful with any recommendations. I would highly recommend renting a scooter from the spot across the street. Really affordable, and made our stay so much better.

This was my first time visiting Tulum and I can't wait to come back! Tunich Jungle cabanas are located in a great spot with a small beach right across the street. I walked everywhere, felt very safe, and comfortable. I also biked to the Ruins and Grand Cenote (bike rental across the street as well). Brandy & Blaine were wonderful hosts, with great communication and recommendations also very kind. The Cabana was clean with a very comfortable bed. It is not fancy, but for the price it was perfect for me. It was lovely waking up and getting a filling continental breakfast of homemade toast, fruit and coffe...and for just 25 pesos you can add two delicious eggs. I loved everything about my stay and already missing Tulum.

Hola! We are originally from the Canadian prairies where we spent all of our lives there until picking up and moving to the big city of Toronto for our "roaring twenties."

However after starting careers and a family there, the calling to live abroad got louder and recently we packed it all up and moved to Tulum, Mexico. It's a town that called to us; amazing food, perfect white sand beaches, a diverse global community and a chance to live differently. Simply.

Brandy is an advocate for environmentalism and is very passionate about natural living. Blaine is a people person - you'll find him wandering table to table chatting up the guests in our restaurant or helping hotel guests get into town for $7 peso tacos. (Yes, he's a taco-binge enabler.)

Hope to meet you in Tulum and share our little slice of jungle heaven with you.
