The perfect escape to the country! Fern is our green themed vintage caravan. Located in a quiet corner, next to a stream and on a relaxed and pretty farm campsite in beautiful rural Cornwall. Close to the beach. *Week only booking mid Jul-Aug.*

The space

*Please note week only bookings in peak season, mid July-end August.* Fern who sleeps 2 is one of 6 cute vintage caravans we have for hire on our farm campsite in rural Cornwall. All the caravans are located in their own private area of a separate field to the camping field. They have views of the lakes and countryside and are very peaceful. They are fully equipped with all linen, crockery and their own toilets and small showers. We include a cream tea or home made cake upon arrival. It's possible to pitch a tent next to the caravans if you have a larger group, just ask in your email. Please note the caravan is not on mains electricity, it is solar powered and has lights, a cooker and a fridge but no working plug sockets. We offer phone charging for 50p a time. See our listing for 'Daisy caravan' if you would prefer a caravan with mains electricity. The toilet and shower is very small but guests can use the basic toilets and showers in the camping field next door.
These caravans are situated aside from the main camping area, in large field of their own. Away from the general hub-bub, offering that extra touch of seclusion unsurpassed, to the best of our knowledge, by any other site in Cornwall. They all have their own outside seating and you can have your own campfire, perfect for toasting marshmallows!
Visitors are, of course, welcome to use the facilities provided to the rest of our farm campsite, but for those who enjoy that extra touch of privacy and tranquility, these caravans offer the perfect countryside retreat.
Just imagine awakening to nothing other than the sound of chirping birds and the gentle trickle of the passing stream.

Costs: 2 person caravans Fern and Poppy: £300pw. 4/5 person caravans Billy Blue & new Rosie: £500pw.

Guest access

The caravans are located in their own quiet corners in a separate field to the main camping field but guests can feel free to use the whole site. We have 3 fields with 2 small lakes, ponds, streams and gardens to explore.

Interaction with guests

We are mostly on site during the day during the busy periods and can be found gardening, looking after the animals or attending to guests. We leave our guests in peace most of the time but we're happy to give lots of advice and recommendations on the local area. We've lived in Cornwall for over 30 years and know every nook and cranny so have lots of recommendations on things to do in any weather.

Other things to note

Our ethos is simple and natural. Therefore we have no clubhouse or constant traffic noise and we are a real escape from everyday pressures. If you want a developed caravan site with lots of tarmac and facilities then our place is not for you. We do not have WiFi. Caravan guests need to re-fill their water bottles from the main camping field tap if they run out during their stay. At our campsite we offer basic water, shower and toilet facilities and plenty of space to enjoy your holiday. Children are very welcome. Due to the local wildlife, unfortunately no pets are allowed. Please note the caravans are located in a quiet rural field, it's very peaceful but dark and quiet at night so bring a torch.
Camp fires are permitted, in designated fire rings.
Sacks of logs are available for purchase.

The caravan is simple and has all the required amenities. I would not describe the caravan as being on a 'cute farm' its mostly just a field and we felt it was slightly overpriced for what it is. It turned out the property wasn't for us but it is ideal if you want a calm simple camping-like experience. Lesley and her husband are there at all times if you need any help.

What a place! A beautiful little caravan, perfect for the two of us, nestled in the beautiful Cornish countryside. We were welcomed with scones and jam on arrival - great after a long drive to get there. The place exceeded our expectations. The farm setting is beautiful with lots to explore around the site, and close to several south Cornwall seaside villages and beaches. We stayed for three nights but would have stayed for many more! Rowing on the lake, cooking on the fire, we had a great time. Mevagissey is a lovely, picturesque little village with a beautiful harbour - great for fish and chips, a few seafood restaurants to choose from too. We visited the lost gardens of heligan for a great stomp around the woods but the highlight was probably mountain biking at Lanhydrock (about half an hour by car with cycle hire at the site), we were complete beginners but had a hoot speeding through the forest! We are definitely coming back this summer!

Lesley and Tony were welcoming, helpful and friendly. The site is beautiful and if you book a caravan rather than just camp you get semi-exclusive use (there are only 2 other caravans in the field and they are in the far corners) of a big field with a lake and rowing boat! We received scones on the day of arrival and also at the start of the next week and they were delicious. We brought a tent as well and made a lovely area to relax and as a base to explore the area. The site is very well situated - you can walk to a shop and pub, be in St Austell (for full amenities) within 5 mins or so and are only 10 mins from Lost Gardens of Heligan, Mevagissey and some lovely beaches. The caravan was simple but worked fine. Comfy bed for Nana to sleep on and a good working fridge and hob (and oven/grill but we didn't really use it). Electric is minimal (just to operate lights and water pump). Bathroom very small - best used as an emergency loo or for small kids if there is a lot of you... Otherwise fine for just 1 or 2 people. Bedding clean, fresh and good quality and caravan nicely decorated. Fire pit outside for evening fires and cooking (which we prefer to gas). It is a 'back to basics' site - which makes it peaceful and relaxing but do come prepared for basic (but clean) shower/toilets. If you are bringing young children be aware that the whole site has streams running though and there are lakes and ponds in two fields (including the caravan one). The caravan pictured here has a stream running behind it and to the side and although it has shrubs grown up in places it is not fenced. There is a bridge and rope swing just to the side of it too. Great for the older kids but our toddler kept running towards it - we got around this by creating a 'back garden' type area with our tent and gazebo and wind breaker so we had an area that we could all sit in without having to chase her! We lovely rowing on the lake, watching the kids play with newly made 'camping friends' and are looking forward to returning! Thanks Lesley and Family.

Due to the peak season we didn't get to stay in Fern, but was given to stay in one of the spare caravans available. It was quite a basic one, but enough to give you the experience you seek in caravaning. My husband put his back badly while staying there (which is very unfortunate), so we didn't get to explore the farm. But just being there, in the farm, was enough for us. The farm was idyllic and peaceful, away from anything, really. Watching the farm animals roaming free (the fluffy chickens, a frisky little goat called Rose or Rosie, some ducks) was a real pleasure. Lesley and Tony were amazing, hospitable hosts. They went the extra mile to make our stay really comfortable and they were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely time staying at Pleasant Streams this weekend - Lesley and Tony were great hosts, friendly and helpful, and Lesley's cream tea was fab! After speaking with Lesley before we arrived we ended up staying in a different caravan so can't comment on Fern, but the site itself is beautiful with chickens and ducks roaming around which we absolutely loved. Good facilities (showers were hot when I had one!) and a short walk down to the pub and shop in the village. We didn't want to come home and would definitely stay again.
