Austin weekends & events await you in this spacious guest room with private entrance & private bathroom. Walk to downtown, University of Texas and east side entertainment districts, but come home to a quiet retreat.

The space

Welcome to Casa Leona!
We want you to fall in love with Austin. Please be my guest in the spacious home that I share with two housemates and one cat. Staying this close to Downtown Austin puts you in the heart of activity at the University of Texas, the state capitol, the entertainment districts and the festival and conference hubs. Yet, it's also a peaceful, quiet retreat from those same fun places and events.
We are in easy walking distance to great coffee shops, pubs and a variety of restaurants and food trailers.
The Guest Suite:
Spacious and private guest suite is 500 sq.ft and has a private entrance and patio. It is furnished with a queen bed, couch, a few chairs, and a few patio chairs outside. The room includes a mini kitchen with a refrigerator and teapot. You will have a private (small) bathroom with sink, toilet and shower (no bath tub). The room has a stereo and wifi, but no TV. All sheets, pillowcases, and most blankets, are organic.
You will not have access to the main house. If you need to use something, washer & dryer for instance, just let me know and I'll let you in. The guest suite is stocked with helpful items and snacks. It has a big closet for your fabulous wardrobe.
Heads up: The house is located directly across from a cemetery. I came to appreciate it long ago, but a few of my guests have mentioned it. It is the oldest cemetery in Austin, established the same year Austin became a city, 1839. Many important figures in TX history are buried there. I like that it is peaceful and quiet. I hope you will feel the same.
Ask me and I'll try to find those special things you really want: your favorite foods, shopping, reservations, experiences...
Austin won my heart a long time ago. I hope you love it, too! Please enjoy your stay, wherever you decide to hang your hat!

Guest access

Guests have access to your own private suite, but not the common areas of the house. If you need kitchen or laundry room access, we can arrange it on an individual basis. You will also have access to all the outdoor spaces (front porch and courtyard by your suite).

Interaction with guests

I'd love to get to know you a little or a lot, based on our plans and needs at the time of your visit. I'm an experienced host and my goal is for you to be as comfortable as possible.

This place is great. My only reservation was that it seemed a bit far out of town, its not, cab, bus or walk, you are not far from 6th street and Red River! There is a lot going on East of the i35 anyway, 11th Street is busy, you are only a few blocks from bustling East 6th street of Hotel Vegas. As for the accommodation it looks just like the photographs, only its bigger! no problems with anything, its a wooden house and really feels part of Austin. Beers, Water, Coffee all there waiting for you, the rest of Austin is just out there for you. Also if you are a baseball fan, the stadium is just one black away!

Communication was good beforehand and Jennifer was there to welcome me on my arrival. Her place was very private having it's own entrance and the room was spacious. There were lots of extras left such as tea, coffee, milk, and beer and wine in the fridge. Also, shampoo/conditioner, soap, etc in the bathroom. The bathroom would benefit from some upgrading but had everything you needed with plenty towels supplied. Overall, a good experience.

We had a brilliant stay at Jennifer's place - the suite is huge and Jennifer had gone out of her way to set up the air bed as there were three of us, as well as writing a lovely welcome message on the chalkboard and making sure we were well catered for with drinks and snacks. It is an easy 25 minute walk to 6th Street where there are lots of cool bars and food trucks. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

Jennifer was a wonderful host for us, very welcoming and the apartment was immaculately clean. The bed was very comfortable and there were lots of lovely small touches (wine/beer/coffee/snacks/toiletries etc) that made our stay so enjoyable. The apartment was very private and comfortable, and we were very glad to have chosen to stay here.

Jennifer was a great host. Nice personalised message, and really thoughtful snacks which we used for hikes! Amazing tailored information on Austin and local area and even a bottle of wine. Room and bathroom were great too! So much space to relax.

Staying at Jennifer's was a pure joy. The place is full of character and you can see Jennifer's personality on the details. Great recommendations for places to go around the neighborhood, superb communication, lovely area. Overviewing the cemetery gives a great sense of calmness. Bed was really good as well. As other people have mentioned here it definitely feels more like having your own place rather than renting a room.

I have lived here in East Austin since 2000 and I am very pleased to welcome you! I work mostly from home, but also from my office downtown. I love travel, walking, hiking, reading, coffee, food and just doing not much at all :-)
Hosting has been a highlight of my life since 2015. I feel truly privileged to have met the amazing people who have stayed with me and honored to call some former guests my current friends.
