What an enchanting place! Wild Devon camping is truly magical. It already looked like the kind of place we'd love to visit on the photos, and it was even nicer in real life. The caravans were so lovely! The kitchen had everything we could possibly want, the toilet was flushable(which was a bit of a luxury) and the shower was a lovely experience. It was so good to be away from everything for a couple of days. We had the field to ourselves as that's the only one they have to rent so nobody around except for the cows in the next field. We went to bed when it got dark, all 5 of us huddled up in a caravan and read stories to each other. When John asked if we'd heard the Owls I had to say no as I slept like a log on both nights. The beds were very comfy with lovely duvets and crisp sheats. Haven't slept this well for ages! The kids had an amazing time playing with the dogs and spent a lot of time on the swing. John and Mary were really lovely and welcoming and had such fascinating stories to tell. Marie introduced us to her beautiful horses and John showed us his collection of vintage cars. We don't go camping very often, only when we find something special, and this place definitely was different. We'll be back for sure!

We had a really magic time staying here. A whole field to ourselves, in a most beautiful location. Really comfy beds ( although the double in the larger gypsy caravan is a bit on the short size, which was slightly tricky for my 6ft4 husband). The kitchen it really well kitted out, and the outside cooking area works really well. We were kept well stocked with fire wood by the hosts. The hosts were super helpful and kind, a real pleasure to meet them. Our kids have made us promise to go back again, and we will be most happy to keep the promise.

It is impossible to say in 500 words how magical and lovely Marie's camp is. Our family will never forget it. We had an incredible weekend going back to nature in the most beautiful and secluded setting. We cooked over the fire pit and enjoyed the very comfortable facilities including the lovely shower and actual proper loo! For the non-camper it is very reassuring yet absolutely total immersion in nature and a sense of history with the painted caravans. This is camping with a difference. Beautiful fairy lights and a candelabra make nights magical and there is a bubbling brook to play in. The children adored it. Marie and John are absolutely great and so helpful. We want to go back next year and stay longer! If you want an absolute break from reality and a trip back in time - you must try it.

If you want to get away from it all, even (or especially) phone reception, in the heart of nature and live a quiet, slower pace of life getting back to basics, this is the place for you! Marie and John share their time and extraordinary life stories generously, are accommodating hosts even making a posy of fresh herbs for our stew when they learnt we had forgotten ours. Their gypsy caravans and shepherds hut are beautiful and cooking with their African pots over the fire is engrossing and dinner is worth the wait, so is the water heated on the fire which is fun to ferry for kids to have a late evening hot shower! You have a whole meadow to yourself, no other dwelling or person in sight, just the buzzard swooping overhead and the owls hooting you to sleep. This living space that John and Marie have created enables kids the freedom to 'go and play' in the stream, on the rope swing, climb trees, explore and take part in the al fresco cooking with toasting marshmallows and perfecting chocolate bananas in the embers of the fire for pudding. Idyllic, when can we go back?

Well, where to start? We fully indulged ourselves into the raw and beautiful camping site that Mari and John have lovingly developed. After readjusting to not having phone signals or internet we began to appreciate the beauty of the quiet. The gypsy caravan and shepherds hut were fab night nests and we enjoyed cooking on the camp fire and warming the water for the wild shower ....the star filled nights were literally heavenly. John and Mari were wonderful hosts with some beautiful tales to tell

Marie and John were welcoming and lovely hosts. After we arrived to their farm they guided us across the fields to the camping site (total privacy) and explained everything there was to know (+ excellent recommendations for local pubs and hiking routes). The caravans were clean and comfortable and the kitchen literally fully equipped! There was also a safari shower and a flush toilet, so really comfortable for a wild camping site. We had a great time and enjoyed cooking dinner over the camp-fire after long walks exploring the area. Recommendable without any doubt!
