A cabin in the city! In our backyard, private bath and patio. A quiet Capitol Hill neighborhood. Street parking readily available. Access to the National Mall/downtown by foot, bus, bike or metro. Convenient to Union Station and two of DC's best neighborhoods for dining (Eastern Market/Barracks Row and H ST/Atlas District)l. Free wifi. Heating/air conditioning that you control. Bag storage before or after check-in. And we've gone green with solar & low impact cleaning supplies!

The space
Cabin, cottage, studio...whatever you call it, it's a private space in our backyard that was inspired by the Tiny House craze (180SF/16sq meters). A mall kitchen with tools to prepare a basic meal (and we are happy to lend you things from our own kitchen). Street parking available (on day of check-in and checkout too). TV streams Netflix and regular channels (not cable). Backs up to a field and a Capital Bikeshare station. We do not like getting lost and we do everything we can to help guests avoid that too! We provide a binder with helpful info and maps on the walls to help you get oriented and plan your day. Parking pass available upon request.

Guest access
Guests have access to the cabin and our backyard patio and may take advantage of the space to have breakfast or relax with a drink after a hectic day. We have a storage room in our basement if you need to store luggage for early arrivals or late departures. Street parking is normally very easy. After you have booked, we request your license plate and state so that we can get you a parking pass (if you are renting a car, you'll just send this info when you know it).

Other things to note
We work hard to provide clear details and helpful information so that you get the most out of your stay in DC! Trash pickup comes around 9am on Monday mornings. You'll hear the truck. Kindly use the garbage bins in the alley for your trash (green for trash, blue for recycling). You'll find checkout instructions in the binder; we appreciate if you would strip the beds (including comforter cover) and leave them in a pile with your used towels. Parking is almost always available on our street, and if not, you probably won't have to look much further than a block away.

Capitol Hill is a village in a city --friendly, safe, and green. Our house is 1.1 miles from both the Eastern Market Metro (blue/orange line) and Union Station (red line). Both stations are about a 20-23 minute walk, through a gorgeous historic neighborhood (we walk and bike this all the time). D6 bus stops 2 blocks from our house and goes directly downtown (convenient access to the mall). Capitol Bikeshare station across the field behind the house. Great for going downtown during the day, coming home for a rest, then going out to a nice dinner at night. Runners: you can go for a wonderful jog past the Capitol. Bicyclists: check out the Anacostia River Trail nearby.

During your stay
We respect that guests vary in terms of what kinds of interactions they want with their hosts. We are available for advice, but we make ourselves scarce when guests want to be left alone. The great thing about the cabin is that guests have complete privacy, but we are not far away. And in the event that we happen to be traveling, our neighbors (who also host on Airbnb) are around to help.
