About this listing
Situated on a citrus and olive farm, with a private access to the sea and magnificent views to Poros island, this fairytale-like cottage will enchant you! Decorated by a renowned local designer, this idyllic place is perfect for tranquil holidays.
The cottage is situated at the end of the privately owned citrus and olive tree farm, a few hundred meters from the main house, right by the sea, offering an unhindered view to Poros island, which you can admire from a spacious terrace. The interiors are beautifully designed in Greek rustic chic style by a locally renowned designer who also resides on the property. The peacefulness and tranquility of the place will allow you to properly unwind and relax.
The cottage is situated a few hundred meters from the main house. You get access to the farm itself, which includes the private sea access with a mini beach. You can go swimming anytime you wish.
Interaction with guests
That is entirely up to you. The space gives a lot of privacy and independence. For any questions or simply if you wish for a conversation, you are welcome to speak to the residents of the main house (a Dutch lady and her Greek husband who live on the property). They speak perfect English, Dutch and Greek :-)
The owners of the farm, Katerina and Rik (also English, Dutch and Greek speakers), live on Poros island where they manage The Odyssey Centre. You are more than welcome to visit them for a delicious, homemade breakfast or dinner. You can also take part in cooking classes organised by Katerina. She is a magnificent chef and can teach you some fantastic, authentic Greek food recipes (ask me for pricing and details).
The property is located in the old Galatas, which consists of old style Greek houses and large farms. You can take a walk to town on the main street (there is only one road going there so you can't get lost) or by the sea, more romantic choice :-)
There is a number of beaches available on the Galatas (mainland) side as well as on Poros island (ask us for more details).
For those looking for more activities, there is plenty available in the area: sailing, kayaking, diving, snorkeling, water sports, swimming, cycling, cooking or weaving classes. We can also provide detailed information about nearby sites that are worthwhile visiting like: Hydra, Spetses, Nafplio, Nemea wine region (we can arrange a wine tasting and culinary tour), Ancient Theatre of Epidavros (ask us for the for a play schedule) to mention a few.
The farm is located a 15 min walk from the centre of Galatas. You can also use a trusted taxi service (less than 5 min drive; around 4 EUR one way) or you can rent a car in one of the 2 rental companies in Galatas from 35 EUR per day. From Galatas you can catch a ferry/taxi boat to Poros island, it operates 24/7. The trip lasts 2 min and costs 1 EUR one way.
From Athens there are multiple options to get to the property:
1. By ferry from the harbour of Pireus (1h trip) (ask us for more details on schedule and tickets)
2. By car (2.5h trip)
3. By bus (2.5h trip) (ask us for more details on schedule and tickets)
4. We can arrange private transport by car/van (pick up at the airport) at cost of 160 EUR (the car is a 7 seater so the cost can be split)
I'm a Polish girl currently living in the countryside in the Peloponnese, Greece. Together with my Greek partner, we decided to leave our corporate, well paid jobs in Johannesburg, South Africa for the love of nature, locally grown food and people-centred experiences. That is how our company, Live-Bio, was created. Apart from running our own, eco-friendly holiday destination, we decided to help others manage their properties throughout Greece and by doing so, create a network of trusted places to visit in this beautiful country.
Even though I'm a Pole, I'm a citizen of the world. Having lived in Poland, Mexico, South Africa and now Greece, I learned a lot about various cultures, customs and ways of doing business. My studies in International Relations and knowledge of foreign languages (Polish, English, Spanish, French and a little bit of Greek) were a great help too. I used to sell and manage properties in all the above mentioned countries. My openness and love for people's interaction helped me develop many friendships around the world. Meeting people is a great passion of mine! After it comes travelling :-) I was lucky enough to visit almost all continents, numerous countries, cities, villages, islands. Travelling helped me better understand the needs of holiday makers and the tourism industry itself.
Together with my partner we build close relationships with the owners of the properties we manage and would love to do the same with the guests visiting them! We are always open to spend time with you over dinner, share a bottle of wine and a good conversation. We also invite you to try various activities with us such as sailing, cycling, kayaking, cooking classes, weaving workshops, wine tasting and culinary tours. And if you like culture, we can recommend a good theatre play, concert, photo gallery or art exhibition. We believe in "travelling through experience" and we want you to be part of it. Our motto: "Who lives sees much, who travels sees more".
