This one person, super comfy room is located a 5 minute walk from Grandin Village and the Roanoke River Greenway. It has easy access to the bathroom, kitchen and back patio and off-street parking. The common areas along with the bathroom and kitchen are shared with us. It is located in a zen-like apartment and on a peaceful street. Onsite bikes, electric car charger and five hammocks are available for guest use. We are LGBTQ friendly and super open-minded people.

The space

Truda has lived overseas for 20 years and traveled extensively so the home may appear a bit exotic in décor but interesting! We attempt to create a calm and zen like atmosphere everywhere. We treasure the outdoor space so there are plenty of places to relax on the front porch and back patio. There are hammocks from Nicaragua, a chiminea (outdoor fire) and grill. We have set up the living room for dual use as a TV watching area and exercise area with yoga mats, hand weights, large body ball, and straps. The common areas along with the bathroom and kitchen are shared with us and one other guest when the other single room is occupied.

Guest access

You will have access to all areas of the house and grounds including the shared laundry room with laundry supplies if needed. Wireless internet is available in indoor and outdoor spaces. There is a work station available for guest use. Guest may borrow bicycles for riding the nearby Roanoke River Greenway.

Interaction with guests

If we are available, we would love to learn about you and share a little about ourselves if that is something you desire. We can also easily respect your privacy if that is what you need. We will not be offended if the guest prefers to keep to him/herself. We are here to provide what you need during your stay. We do live in the apartment where you will stay.

Other things to note

There is an electric car charger available for guest use if needed as well as two fully-equipped bicycles including helmets we ask you to use. There are a total of three other very respectful and professional adults living in two other apartments in the building so don't be surprised if you run into them in the outdoor spaces or the building's laundry room.

Truda wasn't around when I stayed, but Joseph was a phenomenal host. Very welcoming, accommodating, and helpful. The place was clean and spacious, close to good restaurants (definitely check out Local Roots), and in a quiet neighbourhood. Would recommend to anyone.

Incredibly hospitality, thoughtful touches (many tea options, coffee and snacks ready for you), and a very comfortably bed. I slept well, loved the city, but especially love the people in Roanoke. You could not create a better airbnb experience than staying with this family.

Truda and Joseph have a lovely home! The bed is so comfortable and the kitchen is a wonderful place to sit and drink your morning coffee. Plus, Joseph was a great and very kind host, offering anything I might need. I hope to stay here again!

Greetings and welcome to Grandin Village, a southern front porch friendly neighborhood where neighbors say good morning to each other and there are no strangers. We genuinely enjoy hosting airbnb guest and introducing them to our historic village. Or welcome to Truda's solar off…
