The view from the rooftop (occasionally shared with monkeys) is stunning and so is the room. Robin & Mary are perfect hosts. We extended our stay by a day, practically efter check-in. Recommended!

Beautifully designed, clean and bright with views across the lake from the balcony. As others have said, a real oasis above the streets of Udaipur. Robin and his family welcomed us into their home and made our stay very enjoyable while we were in Udaipur. Robin helped us book an early morning taxi, and even took us round on the back of his scooter to find some cash while there was a temporary problem with the ATMs. Plus great recommendations for restaurants etc and everything was easily walkable/exploitable, which we really enjoyed.

Our four night stay in Udaipur was made much more enjoyable by Robin's help and expertise. From guiding the tuk tuk driver to his doorstep on our arrival to helping us find a reputable Ayurvedic shop to arranging a driver for us to the airport. The top room of his haveli was very clean, spacious, quiet (when the windows were closed and the AC on) and had a nice view of the lake. The roof terrace was relaxing and had a commanding, unobstructed view of the lake. The haveli is located on a side street in a touristy zone so beware of the typical aggressive local hucksters. Given the opportunity we would stay again...thanks again Robin!

Vara was at the end of a very dubious street but once we reached bars it was a haven of peace and tranquility Robin and Mary we fantastic hosts, nothing was too much trouble for them. There are fantastic restaurants nearby and it is extremely close to The Royal Palace A trip we would recommend is with Akbar Ali (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) A brilliant insight into where the ordinary people of Udaipur live

Robin and his family were gracious and charming hosts. Their son James recommended a place to eat and it was one of the best meals we had in India. The apartment is roomy, and clean and in a great part of Udaipur so I thoroughly recommend staying there.

I Robin and my wife Mary met in North India, Uttaranchal, where we took our education & training in the Good Shepherd Agricultural Mission, later married & settled in Udaipur. I worked in a number of films for Hollywood & Bollywood with my father and lover of Art & Antique collector, but always with the hope of establishing a guest house. Finally my dream came true and Vara Guest House opened to the public.
