With breathtaking ocean views to the south and a bird's eye view of Rodman's Hollow to the west, this newly renovated saltbox offers privacy, peace and quiet and a hip, relaxed atmosphere that will surely enchant young and old alike.

The space

Offering a winning combination of being well off the main road for privacy and quiet without being remote, with a huge water view and striking sunsets over Rodman's Hollow, the adjacent 230-acres of conservation land to the west, this stunning property is a short walk or bike ride away from some of the island's most dramatic and secluded beaches along with a freshwater pond perfect for swimming.

This newly renovated saltbox is hip and relaxed, with a large, spacious open plan upstairs featuring a large deck for grilling and outdoor dining and a living/dining area accessed by a spiral staircase. There are four bedrooms: three downstairs bedrooms with patio access, two with queen beds, one with an antique full bed; plus a smaller bedroom with a twin bed. There are two full baths, one downstairs with a clawfoot slipper tub, and one upstairs. There is also a spectacular outdoor shower. Private parking for two cars is included.

The structure sits on 3.5 acres, which it shares with a barn and two additional cottages, one of which is available to rent as a pair that sleeps 12 - 14. Please inquire for pricing and availability.

Block Island is a great getaway and offers bird watching, deep sea fishing, hiking and biking. 40% of the island is conservation land, so trails are abundant. There are numerous beaches ranging from sandy, family friendly beaches to the more secluded south coast beaches popular with surfers and surfcasters. Explore the main port with its cute boutiques and a variety of dining options.

Block Island is accessible by plane (a short 15-minute flight from Westerly, RI) or by ferry. Ferries depart from Point Judith, RI; Newport, RI; Fall River, MA; New London, CT; Montauk, NY; Orient Point, NY. Car reservations are available if you book well in advance on some of the ferries. Most visitors rely on a bike or moped. I'm new to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)! I live with my husband and son in Boston, MA. We fell in love with Block Island years ago and are thrilled to be able to offer our cottage to vacationers. We hope you enjoy it!

What an amazing Airbnb find! This place is even cooler than the listing. The views ARE breathtaking and the outdoor shower was incredible. Nestled in a quiet nook on the island, this saltbox provided the perfect escape for rest and relaxation. The accommodations were quaint, cozy and immaculately clean. I highly recommend this sweet sweet spot!

Another amazing BI experience made all the better by staying at our home away from home. Dean was accommodating and helpful as always and even made a guest appearance to say hello. We already want to turn around and come right back--and we will for sure!

Dean is a wonderful host and the Saltbox is truly a gem. We spent every day trying to come up with excuses to not just lounge around the rolling lawn and gaze at the ocean all day long...and our favorite days in the end were doing just that! We will be back for sure.

Loved staying at the saltbox with 6 friends! It was a breathtaking view and great way to get away from it all and enjoy having cocktail hour/grilling/etc. It was super clean and spotless upon arrival. Dean provides the bare basics and you'll need to plan to pack anything else you may need, but the view alone definitely makes it worth it!

Wonderful home situated in the rolling meadows on the south end of the island. Fantastic sunset's, pheasant walking around outside and secluded in such a way that it's really a nice escape.

The saltbox was absolutely beautiful; both the setting and the home itself. It was an idyllic place to spend a wedding weekend with my family. As the bride, I especially enjoyed the deep soaking tub the night before the wedding, and the gorgeous walk in shower the morning of! The deck offered peaceful views every day, and there were small touches that made the visit so enjoyable.

We had a great stay at this lovely Saltbox. Dean was communicative and there were no surprises upon arrival. We do wish that linens would be provided, given this is an island and to pack extra was painful. Since there's no oven or stovetop, you can use the grill. It was torrential rain during our stay, so inconvenient but not insurmountable. A beautiful gem on an idyllic landscape.

I'm an avid gardener and part-time musician. I also teach college history. When my family and I are not enjoying New England's beautiful spots like Block Island, we like to see other parts of the United States and travel abroad, when we can.
