Not fancy but comfy private accommodation in my 1889 Victorian home. Summer intern welcome (June-August) - please inquire about pricing.

The space

Welcome to my 1889 Queen Anne Victorian house which is still a work-in-progress but (I think) a great home nevertheless. I'm offering my 2nd floor parlour as a guest room, comfortably fitted out with a queen-size bed, wardrobe, dresser, work desk, IKEA chaise, cube fridge + microwave and 32" LED TV w/DVD player and ROKU box (sorry, no cable TV but on master antenna system for local channels). House offers shared bathroom, kitchen, sunspace/dining room, living room and TV room. Broadband WiFi (average 20-25 mbps) and off-street parking also available. Breakfast items usually on offer include coffee, tea, yoghurts, bananas, oranges, cereals + milk, toast + jams and OJ. House is close (walkable 10-15 mins) to train/bus station and downtown venues (15-20 mins) as well as the West End; West Hartford (4 miles west) is best reached by bus or car. Local bus service is available right outside the front door ((URL HIDDEN) Route #76) and CTFastrak service is just a block away. There's also local (hourly) bus service from the airport (Route #30X) to downtown ($1.75 exact change) with an easy transfer (free upon request) to my neighborhood bus; Uber provides service from the airport and around town, as well. The household is gay-friendly and everyone is welcomed for a night or longer stay. See special pricing by the week and month.

Guest access

Guests have access to the main (ground) floor of the house as they wish. For extended visits the sunroom makes a nice place to enjoy the day reading and relaxing and looking at the yard and gardens. For any extended stays, use of the basement laundry facilities can be arranged.

Interaction with guests

I generally enjoy meeting and chatting with my guests which is why I like to serve breakfast in the sunroom. However, if you really prefer your privacy I can always set out breakfast items in the kitchen which can be taken to the guest room for your private consumption.

Free parking on premise
Wireless Internet

House Rules

I share my house with 1-2 other resident housemates so any guests would be sharing common space with up to 3 others of us living in the house. However, the guest room is a private room. Quiet time is 10PM - 7AM. There's no smoking in the house but smokers are welcome to go outdoors on the front and back porches as necessary. No pets. I can accommodate 1 car parked in the backyard driveway. Breakfasts can be arranged ahead of time so I can have the basics available for your eating pleasure and fresh coffee ready when you are.

Fantastic! The place was nice and cosy, feels lived in and very homely. Easy enough to find. The room was cosy, fairly quiet and very comfortable. quite spacious and well equip, with a TV, fridge and microwave! Felt like a hotel room. The bathroom was nice, there was plenty of space for washing items, with a completely awesome shower! Jonathan was very nice! Knowledge of the area and surrounding areas, gave me lots of tips of things to do.

I stayed with Jonathan for a few nights as I was attending a conference. The location is difficult to beat, being a few minutes walk to downtown and I was also able to park my car off-street. Jonathan was ever the helpful host, giving me advice in shops and printing out maps! The room benefits from a fridge, microwave and desk so plenty of room!

Jonathan is a wonderful and very accommodating host. We had much to talk about, and I felt very comfortable during the two weeks I was at his home. The house has many lovely original Victorian features, and Jonathan has added a lot of great contemporary touches as well, including a fantastic art collection.

Jonathan was a fantastic host! We're grateful he allowed us to book on such short notice. The communication alongside the convention we attended was great. The room was very clean and organized. He had breakfast ready for us before our adventures to the conventions. Overall it was excellent and will high likely book here next year!

Wonderful room in old home. Reminded me of childhood home....(please take as compliment). Great bath and shower. Jonathan is wonderful host who thought of everything. It was a great experience, why I prefer AIRBNB.

Jonathan's place was awesome to stay at, very close to saint francis where I was doing a hospital rotation. He is a very friendly and accommodating host, I would recommend a stay here to anyone who needs a place in Hartford!

I rented this room from Jonathan for the summer during an internship. Jonathan is an amazing host and made it feel like home right away. He provides everything you could need for a night or an entire summer. The breakfast room and the back porch are especially nice. The house is centrally located, close to downtown, and ramps to I-84 and I-91. Overall I had a great experience renting from Jonathan and would recommend the location for both long and short term stays.
