Firstly, the place is a hostel and not an airbnb private room, something that is not described clearly. The pictures are totally distructive, the room was very small and smelly, very dirty- dust, dirty floor and leftovers from women sanitaries... the badthroom was stinky, i dont want to mention more details about it... the hole place was almost like abandoned, no life, no freshness, nothing... Room "meditation", what a joke...they should rename it into "cave", "cage" or "dungeon".cause no window.. The one and only nice think, was the friendly and helpful guy that works there... deffinetely NOT recomended!

Theodosis, We are surprised by your bad review. Most all of our guests enjoy the room Meditation. The photos show and describe the room accurately. We state it is small. We never show the room you chose with a window. Also, in our describtion we clearly write that Hostel di Gladys is a hostel. We also state our hostel is in an authentic, old Mexican Casa and is not brand new. I am sorry you were confused. The bathrooms are cleaned three times a day, mopped and freshened up. The stinky smell may have been from an occupant prior to your use. Also, our bedrooms are totally cleaned before our guests are given the room. We are surprised you thought the room was dirty.

This place is awesome! My room was very nice, and there were lots of great common areas to hang out (inside, a backyard with a hammock, and a lovely rooftop terrace). The people working there are great too, everyone is super nice and helpful. Event the tour they booked for me was way better than average. Highly recommended!

I was expecting to stay in a house with a woman called Gladys but then realized it was just an other hostel of the city and not staying with a local... I asked for an extra towel as I was staying for a month and the owner Gladys would suggest me to buy one and explain me how I couldn't except much for the price when I actually had friend staying in other hostel or renting apartment for half the prices ! She would just compare her rate and facilities with the 5 stars BO HOTEL! One day I came back and the door was closed, she had to call Ernesto the only one that has the key so he assume all responsibilities... So Gladys straight away told me I should practice patience and tolerance because I do Yoga !!! I just felt like she should mind her own business instead of telling guests what they should feel or not feel. Ernesto, the poor guy who works there is super sweet and made my stay, thank god ! Also the place is very quiet which I really valued as I was sleeping around 9 pm every night in order to wake up at 5.30 am to follow a 30days Yoga Teacher Training in San Cristobal.

Response from Gladys:
We are sorry if you thought you were renting a private house. Our advertising in Airbnb clearly shows that this a hostel with other rooms available. At our hostel we give each guest a fresh towel daily. Unfortunately, we were unable to accomodate her request of 5 towels daily, one each day for her: face, body, hands, hair and the floor. As she was very upset by not being able to receive multiple towels daily, I did suggest she might be better suited in the luxury hotel across the street. The one day she returned to find the hostel door locked was during the time period that she typically attended her yoga class and Ernesto had gone to the market. There is a sign posted whenever the door is locked to simply ring the bell next door where I am working on my computer. Valerie became agitated as it took me a few moments to locate my key. We are a hostel and not a five star hotel, yet we strive to make our clients comfortable, happy and satisfied in an economic setting.

At Gladys house it was very lovely and nice! It is well located, not far from the center and the street Real Guadelupe, where good restaurants and cafes are. A big compliment to Gladys stuff (we forgot the name). He was so nice! Even though he couldn't speak English (and we couldn't speak Spanish), he did everything for us and with gesticulation he gave us every information we needed!! The rooms (we had to switch once) were very colorful and comfortable. One day we had breakfast there, it was tasty and cheap! Coffee was for free! We would definitely recommend it!!!
