The space

Hello my name is Petya

I live in a 3 bedroom apartment in Astoria, Queens, with my very good friend Max from Germany and Bruna from Brazil. I am originally from Bulgaria and I speak English, Bulgarian, Russian, and a little bit of French. I am a very friendly positive person and I am also very open to foreign cultures, music, food, and customs. New York is a very unique city because people are from all around the world and contribute to the diversity of daily living.
As a professional figure skater I have participated in competitions through out most of Europe. As a child I traveled often with my family to France, Germany, Italy, California, Tunisia and Spain. In addition, I have traveled extensively to North America, Brazil and Tunisia. I love to engage in sports, yoga, tennis, skating, skiing, swimming, hiking, music, dancing and I love to cook. My father and my brother in law are professional chefs. I guess I inherited the passion from them to prepare delicious foods. I would love for you to experience my cuisine.
My apartment is located in a great neighborhood with restaurants, bars, international food, stores, libraries, parks, schools, shopping malls, and cinemas. Everything is nearby and convenient to public transportation which runs 24 hours a days. It is only 5-10min to NYC. Or if you need a taxi, they are abundantly available outside my apartment. I have a great room available with new furniture, AC, WiFi and Cable. I also can offer you occasional free skating classes with me at the local rink.
Welcome to my apartment. I know you are going to feel like you are home. I am waiting for you my new friend. Welcome to New York!
In addition to Astoria I also have locations out side of Queens in the Bronx. You may want to check out them on (website hidden) maps to see which is convenient for you.. Each location is located a block from the 2 &5 subway trains.

House Rules

Homestay Rules
It has become apparent that after hosting several homestay guests, we needed to establish some guidelines and expectations. By no means are we attempting to offend you, or be insensitive to different cultures or customs. However, having experienced some awkward situations, we don’t assume anything anymore. We want to continue to maintain high standards and make your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible. Therefore, please understand the following requests:

Most Americans shower regularly, we expect the same from our guests.

All grooming, make-up, manicures, pedicures etc. need to be done in the bathroom only.

Personal body hair needs to be removed from the bathtub or shower after each use.

The bathtub, shower, sink, etc. need to be kept clean after each use.

Only toilet tissue can be flushed down the toilet. Anything else will clog and damage the plumbing.

Since we don’t lock any doors in the home, your bedroom needs to be clean and organized at all times. We are not a college dormitory.

Lights need to be turned off when not in use.

Front door outdoor lights need to be turned off when the last person arrives home.

Windows need to be kept closed when the air conditioner or heat is in use.

When eating independently of the family, your dishes need to be washed.

Food and drinks are not allowed in the bedroom.

Smoking is not allowed indoors.

No personal guests are allowed to visit without previous approval.

It is important that you do not answer the front door when no one else is home.

There is a $25 fee to replace the door lock if you should lose your door key.

We require either a $1000 refundable deposit or a valid passport to be held as a security deposit during your tenancy.

A $75 cleaning fee will be imposed if your room is left unclean prior to your departure.

Petya was a a wonderful host and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. She and her husband had several suggestions and were a wealth of knowledge that I drew from on my first trip to the city. Absolutely no complaints, you cannot ask for a better host.

A highly recommended place in New York. 2 mins walk way to the subway 36 ST station with line Q and R. 3 stops to reach Manhattan. Petya is a pretty and warm host and it's same as her home. Well decorated and always tiny and cozy. The room is not too big but very enough for one person to stay. Plus, Petya is really good at cooking. :)

We are two doctors in NYC for work, and we contacted with Petya through airbnb.com, and from the first moment, everything was done and was easy with her. She answered me the emails very fast, and with all the information pretty clear. She's a great host, and a good cooker by the way (;D), always happy and friendly. The description of the apartment is totally correct: we stay at the double room (the one in the picture), and it is the same!! Everything is clean, and the apartment is very quiet and warm, and the neighborhood is safe with a big variety of cultures and shops. We definitely recommend her, and her apartment to everybody who wants to expend a long period of time in NYC.

Petya is an absolutely wonderful host. If you want to feel like home, stay at the Petya’s House, in addiction to this the house is just 30 seconds far from the subway!!! She's really welcoming and she's always at your service if you ask something particular. She lets me know all the good places to go in Astoria. And I am absolutely sure she will do the same for you !I really recommend to stay at Petya's House :)

I stayed at one of Petya's properties in Queens which was great. The hostess was kind and thoughtful, the space was very clean and comfortable, and the location was ideal - safe, within walking distance from all necessary stores, and just blocks away from the 7 train. The convenience can't be beat. I highly recommend staying at one of Petya's places!

I had a really Good stay in New York. The only problem was that Petya didn't give me the real address of My home untill I was in the airport in Nyc. She sent me an e-mail when I was on the flight, but the problem is that I payd for a room, in Long Island City, and She sent me in another one, in Woodside. I was Lucky because My roomates were really friendly, but it was not correct to make me pay for something and only in the Last moment change the things.. over that Petya is a Good host and also the House where i was is ideal to tour the city.

Response from Petya:
Dear Giuliana, you came as guest and I accepted you as a close friend. I introduced you to my family and closest friends I work with. For 10 days of your vacation I am sure you had a very good time. Going to the beach and Niagara fall with my other guests to have fun and not to spend a lot of money was my contribution. You see I am a very busy host and have more than 20 rooms in NY. Of course they are not in the same apartment, I gave you that information before you came and it was your responsibility to inform yourself.Your stay in Woodside is the same as Astoria, equal distance to the city, and your landlord there, who is one of my closest friends is simply wonderful person, she is not your roommate. I am really very surprised about your comment. Instead to be happy for what I offered you, you gave me such as terrible review. And we had a dinner together. Wow. You are welcome to NY again, but not to my home not to any of my locations. Please go somewhere else or in a hotel. All the best
