We believe that Girba Farm is ideal for couples or families who want to relax in the midst of nature, could easily also enjoy many cultural sights. Destination not to be missed for lovers of fine food and wine.

The space

The accomodation is a part of an old farmhuose.
On the first floor the bedroom (bed+sofà) and the bathroom . On the ground floor we have the diningroom.
A kitchen is avaible if you need it.
Recently renovated to bring it on the old fashion and to up to date conforts.
A private garden and large spaces for children complete the location.

In the past the house was lived by monks and around it was built a hamlet. In the wood a lot of trails to achive the Park of the Avigliana's Lakes, the monastry of Sacra di San Michele and the Garden REA of Giaveno.

In 5 minutes is possible to achive the nice cities of Giaveno and Avigliana (by bus or by car). From here in 20 minutes you can be in the center of Turin (by train - the ticket costs 2.40 € and there is free Parking at the train station).
You are also close to the Olympic Mountains of Valle di Susa where we had the Winter Olympic Games 2006.

Driving for few km you can arrive in interesting places such as Langhe or Monferrato where you'll find the best italian wines.
Piedmont, and Langhe in particular, is one of the regions where italian food and wine are excellent. We can recommend good restaurants close to us where the relationship between the price and the quality of food and wine is excellent.

As hobby, we are beekeepers, so you could taste our organic honey.

Those who reach us by car can use the open parking. The garden is at your disposal and you can make some great barbecue grilling with either gas or wood.

'Old farmhouse' just doesn't do this amazing place justice. A beautifully renovated and restored building with lots of character and every convenience. A unique location for any stay in the Turin area, lots to do in the immediate area too. Getting in to Turin is easy as described by Mauro. We were treated to the warmest welcome and were made to feel very much at ease. Mauro and Lory made excellent suggestions for trips, visits, etc. We will definitely return.

Lory and Mauro were exceptional hosts. The place is beautifully set close to the lakes and the mountains and offers a wealth of opportunities for trips to be made. The apartment was clean and well appointed and provided everything we needed. We had a very relaxing time and would definitely go back again. We are trying to learn Italian and were given great encouragement to practice. Thank you both for making the last part of our Italian trip special.

Stayed a couple of nights in May '16 with a friend. Wonderful hosts, they are a lovely family, warm and welcoming and make you feel like family guests but give you as much space as you want as well. The accommodation is a connection to their parts of the farmhouse. The accommodation and the farmhouse surroundings are perfect for friends or families looking for a country escape with close drive to towns and Turin. Would definitely stay there again. We even took their dog for a walk. One of my best AirBnB experiences. Thank you so much!

We have so much praise for Mauro and Lory. We had an absolutely fantastic experience at their farmhouse and would recommend it to anyone who is planning a visit to Turin. In terms of logistics, a 25 minute train journey from Turin, followed by 10 minutes on a local bus, will take you to their house in Aviligana. The farmhouse is situated in a small hamlet. Aviligana has an interesting old town which is worth exploring and the farmhouse is also located reasonably close to Giaveno (can be reached by local bus) which has a bustling Saturday morning market. However, much more can be gained from exploring the local rural environment. The farmhouse is set in a truly beautiful landscape, surrounded by mountains, forest and close to two glacial lakes. The family were incredibly hospitable, going above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and encouraging us to fully appreciate everything the area has to offer. We were extremely grateful to them for taking us to an abbey perched on a mountain-top; including us in a trek in the mountains and treating us to a family meal one evening towards the end of our stay. We were really impressed by Lory and Mauro's appreciation of the natural world and passion for bee-keeping. We felt really privileged to be given a tour of the bee-hives on our final day and were delighted to be able to buy some Girba honey as gifts for family and friends back home. The farmhouse itself is pristine, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Mauro and Lory have thought of everything by providing wi-fi access, satellite t.v., tea and coffee making facilities in the main apartment, a little fridge for cold drinks etc. It was also useful to be able to make use of a fully-fitted kitchen. Our holiday was so relaxing and made special by the family who hosted us. We remain eternally grateful to Mauro and Lory for providing us with a very special holiday experience. Paula & Malachy

Our family (with 2 small children) stayed for a week at Mauro and Lory’s residence. Our stay was very pleasant, we enjoyed it from the start to the end and our children did not want to leave, neither us. The accommodation exceeded our expectations. House looked great on the pictures but when we arrived, it was even better. Re-builded old farm house looked very stylish, spacious, fully equipped facilities, safe for the kids and gas fire place made us feel like being at home. We had the semidetached house for our private use along with the massive countryside kitchen (located further in the building) and shared garden with the hosts. This Family provide very welcome hospitality. On our last night Mauro and Lory gave us a farewell with the dinner, that was amazing with Lory’s delicious home made orange marmalade cake, the best Italian wine and local delicatessen. This family simply cares about their guests and we left very grateful for our nice holiday and very warm and carrying hospitality throughway.

Quiet location and very comfortable accommodation. Mauro and Lory made us feel so welcome after a long drive and we had two lovely nights in their apartment. The kitchen area is in a separate building away from the apartment but this wasn’t a problem for us as there was a kettle provided in the apartment. Very well equipped and beautifully decorated. Would definitely recommend a stay here

For 11 nights we stayed in the beautiful apartment of Mauro and Lory. Upon arrival, Lory welcomed us warmly with wine, beer, some food and showed us around the place. The apartment is roomy and tastefully decorated; sculptures and paintings give the rooms a nice atmosphere. The bedroom is airy (French doors to the balconies) and large. Everything was tidy and clean. (There even was a cleaning moment included during our stay) Very attentive gesture: Mauro had an extra lamp installed, because we ( both of us eager readers) inquired beforehand if there was a lamp available for that purpose… The (separated) kitchen is big, with refrigerator, coffee machine and microwave: two hotplates can be used for cooking. Not to be used for preparing a big meal, but why should you ? Going out for dinner is rather cheap: there is a very nice pizzeria/restaurant alongside the lake (2,9 km drive) and in the (nearby) historical center of Aviglana you’ll find an excellent slow food restaurant. The house is located in a nice, rural environment at the edge of a small hamlet ( barking dogs all around, but after a day you are totally unaware of their sounds) Visiting Torino by train (30 minutes), hiking directly from ‘home’ to the former Cortona cloister or to Sacra Saint Michael (impressive), walking around the two lakes and their surroundings are beautiful experiences. And do not forget to visit the old Roman remains in Susa (take the train in the opposite direction from Torino) and the many regional parks in the mountains, where you can walk without meeting a soul. In short: great place, very attentive hosts and a beautiful surrounding.
