Ideal location to explore the South Hams , Totnes town (3 miles) Dartington (5 miles) Dartmouth (10 miles) Salcombe (15 miles) and several stunning beaches within 20 minute drive. There are also many walks that start from the village.

Guest access

Guests will have exclusive access to large double bedroom, own separate shower/toilet and garden area outside of room.

Interaction with guests

We are a friendly, welcoming family, with 2 children of secondary school age and 1 away at University, living in a large 5 bedroom house, and would like to make use of the spare space.

We enjoy having guests, and often have family and friends over for barbeques during the summer months. Our lives tend to revolve around the children and work commitments.

We all tend to be early risers and so in turn are early to bed, so probably will not be the best place to stay if you want to go out clubbing, but if you want to enjoy the area from a comfortable friendly family home then it’s ideal.

The neighbourhood

Totnes, a unique and charming market town, sits in the heart of South Devon and has an international reputation for its lively and diverse community. Its high street is almost unique in its abundance of independent shops, and lively indoor and outdoor markets. If you’re looking for a holiday that combines history, alternative therapies and breathtakingly beautiful countryside, you’ll find it in Totnes.

The famous Dartington Hall and Estate is nearby and hosts many cultural events throughout the year as well as offering magnificent walks in its vast and tranquil grounds.

By car you can be at the beach in 20mins or Totnes and the train station in 7mins. The station is on the main London to Penzance line. We also have a regular bus route from the village running to Totnes and around the South Hams, and also to Exeter.

The village has a shop and a petrol station open until 6pm and 9pm respectively.

Totnes town has a variety of restaurants, eateries, and coffee shops. Most serve food in the evening, and cater for vegetarian and vegan diets, and other dietary requirements. The important matter of food sourcing is often stated – almost as a matter of pride.

Getting around

Ideally you would drive to the house, however if you are coming by train we could pick you up at Totnes train station, there are regular bus routes to and from the village, and several bus and train routes out of Totnes.

Other things to note

We offer free off-road parking immediately outside the house, plus if you are bringing bikes to explore the area they can be stored in our lockable garage.

There is wi-fi available throughout the house, plus you can relax (and walk) in our (very) large and sunny (sunshine not guaranteed) garden.

Breakfast is 'continental' (wide choice of cereals, toast, fruit juice, tea/coffee) and can be taken either in the kitchen/dining room or in the garden (table chairs provided).

You will have exclusive use of a shower room, which also includes toilet and basin. (not en-suite).

This room has a large double bed and a single mattress on request.

We were made to feel at home as soon as we arrived at Richards house. Fiona showed us where everything was kept for making drinks and recommended eateries in and around Totnes. Situated down a quiet lane you're assured of a good nights sleep free from light pollution and noise. The bedroom was airy and bed was very comfortable. Shower/toilet not en suite but across the hall, also very clean with good shower. Great value for money with good breakfast selection on the kitchen table next morning. Richard and Fiona were great hosts and we would recommend them to our fellow Airbnbers!

Richard and Fiona, were such lovely hosts!! Makings us feel welcome straight away and relaxed and at ease throughout our 2-night stay. Brilliant comfortable bed, fantastic dedicated shower and toilet and great choices for a nice breakfast. Richard gave us some great options for restaurants in the beautiful and close town of Totnes. When we visit this great part of the world again, Richard's place will be at the top of the list.

Clean, quiet friendly hosts, but if the weather is cold ensure they have the heating on or you will be very cold.
