The Buttery is cosy and quirky self contained private accommodation adjoining the barn offering self catering accommodation for two people. There is an enclosed private "courtyard" garden and spectacular views of Scafell.

The space
Woodend Buttery is quite remote and situated in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria.

The Buttery is cosy private self contained accommodation for two people adjoining the barn. It combines the old with the new and has a multifuel "log burning" stove in the living area and a feature fire basket in the courtyard for the summer months.

Layout
From the parking area is a gate to the front garden and a step then leads to the front door where you enter into the combined lounge / dining / kitchen area with slate floor and oak beams.
A half flight of steps leads down to the oak floored bedroom and bathroom which comprises of a traditional slipper bath, hand basin and WC.

Located quite high on Birker Fell (950') and approached from the fell along a single track road through a gate, it has fantastic views across the fell towards Scafell Pike, (Englands's highest mountain), and is a ten minute walk from one of the smaller of the lakes, Devoke Water, which never the less is nearly a mile long.

There are incredible views towards Scafell Pike, Bow Fell and Crinkle Craggs. Within twenty minutes walking you can be at the top of Devoke Seat where, on a clear day, you have a 360 degree panoramic view that includes Devoke Water, the Langdales, the coast and the Isle of Man.

We work at home in this magnificent location with our collection of quirky individual cottages to look after.

Having fond memories of our holidays, the places visited and in many cases the years that we took them, making memorable holidays for our guests is our main goal.

We spend most of our time at Woodend with our dog "Gracie" and we keep chickens, some of the year a few pigs, grow our own vegetables and enjoy cooking, home brewing and wine making. Other than that we enjoy live music and organise our regular local live music event, "Music in Ulpha". Check out the Music in Ulpha website, you might be able to match your stay to when we have a gig, many people do!
When we do make time to get away, we like to travel abroad or explore the UK in our motorhome, especially visiting folk festivals.

We would love to welcome you to Woodend to share the stunning views of England's highest mountains, including Scafell Pike, and the peace and tranquility of this "off the beaten track" location.
