Studio cottage located in the country just 5 miles from some of the nicest beaches in NorCal. Wild roses and lavender greet you at the front door and a sunny patio off the back is perfect for morning coffee. At night you will be charmed to sleep by the songs of frogs and maybe a barn owl. From here it is a short drive to; hike in the redwoods, picnic on the beach, strolling in the town of Half Moon Bay or make the drive to SF, San Jose or Santa Cruz. No cable, no WiFi and we call it perfect!

The space
*To start -Welcome. Please breath deeply and relax. You are here now. This is a place for you to detach from the real world. No cable, no Wifi, just relax. We love our home and want you to, too. If you would like, we have left a bottle of wine for you to enjoy.

* We are dedicated to your health and have committed to Air BnB's COvid-19 cleaning protocol. The cottage has been cleaned and aired out prior to your arrival. This is why the window will be open when you arrive and the ceiling fan will be on.

* The bed is a queen size with crisp, white sheets. We have offed a variety of pillow firmnesses for all different styles of sleep.

* We have a kitchenette for you to make small meals. (see photos) The kitchenette has a small refrigerator. There is a microwave, large toaster over and a coffee maker that I will have ready and a hot plate. There is a small "2 egg" skillet and a pot for if you choose to make some food. In the refrigerator you will find Coffeemate and sugar. There is a Britta water pitcher for you in there as well. The tap water is from our well and fine to drink and is great for your coffee and tea. We can also give you a few excellent ideas for eating in the area.

* The evenings are beautiful here. In most cases, we have a fire pit set up for you. Due to the recent fires in the area, we are holding back on that until we get some moisture in the ground. But please sit outside at night. It’s beautiful. We have blankets for you to snuggle up with. I have left a bottle of wine for you to share.

* Inside, the heater is awesome and will warm you quite well. The thermostat is to the left of the bed, on the wall. The heat has been set and will turn on and off automatically. In the winter months, I will have it on for you when you arrive. In the summer months, it will be turned off. We turn it back on in October. DO NOT attempt to turn off the pilot lite on the heater.

* The adventures here are endless. I have left a book with information and directions on the kitchen table.
The beach is a 5 minute drive to the west. Hiking in the redwoods is a 7 - 10 minute drive to the east. We have lovely, artsy towns to walk like Half Moon Bay (15 miles north) or Pescadero ( 17 miles south), both have great places to eat and shop. Or you can just stay in and sit at the fire bowl - please enjoy after you return from your days adventures. I do take the fire bowl in if it is going to rain so if you don't see it, that is why.

*There is limited cellphone access (AT&T and Verizon work fine): no internet and no cable TV. The TV has a DVD player in it and there are a few DVD's. Bring you own movies or try some of ours. - Take advantage of the peace.

* We love our pets. And we travel with ours. We have a food station and personal towel for you pet. We ask that you do keep you dog or cat on a leash while you are here. Our dog's name is Colt. (He'll probably meet you as you drive up).

* I know that many people allow their pets on the furniture, I ask that you take care with the white bed spread. No need for unintended damage. And if you would please clean up after your pets ( you would be surprised on how many people don't). You can leave any poop bags by the back slider and I will clean up after you have left.

** Most of all--- enjoy your time away from the world and the stress that comes with it

Where you’ll be

San Gregorio, California, United States

We are rural and very country. No sidewalks, street lights or WiFi! A few phone carries work here - Verizon and ATT. We like it that way. Some of the oldest redwood still left in California at just minutes away. Hiking, surf and wildlife is our neighborhood. We enjoy this quite escape. To reference our location, SF Financial district is an easy drive north along the ocean, 38 miles about 1 hour. You can spend the day in the city and relax for the evening in the country. Silicon Valley is about 1 hour depending on time of day that you are on the road. (Traffic to Silicon Valley can be rough). To the south is Santa Cruz - 43 miles and about an hour.

If you are a golfer, we are 14 miles from the Half Moon Bay Ritz and their amazing golf courses.

If cycling is your thing, the AMGEN race has included la Honda road so you can test your skills right outside the property gates.

And for the big wave surfers, Maverick's is just 21 miles north. Or windsurfing, just south of us towards Santa Cruz at Big Basin.

There is so much to see and do so get out and do it!
