Description

The space

We are in the process of moving and unpacking, so the space is "rough". But guests will have their own room, furnished with a full size bed and comfortable and clean bedding, necessary lighting, and any other essential amenities. As the room comes together we'll try to post pictures.

Guest access

Kitchen, dining room, living room (with TV you can connect your computer to for watching netflix), and front porch for enjoying the weather while it lasts.

Interaction with guests

It kind of just depends. Sometimes we'll be doing our own things, and sometimes we are around. But this home includes young professionals who enjoy surfing, hiking, and sitting around a wood stove while making dinner together. It can be a very quiet space, or it can be warm and energetic. Regardless, the house is big, so if you want a quiet retreat with space for reflection you can definitely find it.

The neighbourhood

-Just down the street is Wells Farm where you can book a wonderful dinner with excellent food, made with fresh ingredients straight from the farm.

Getting around

-Parking is available on this property. We are only a 10 minute drive from Higgins Beach, and are equally close to down town Portland. We do recommend you come with a car as there is no public transport.

Other things to note

-There is only one bathroom in this house, but so far that has not been a problem.
-Use of the laundry machine (and detergent) is available for $3/load for washing machine, and $2 for the dryer.
-If you enjoy surfing... we do too!
-This house is located on a great Cape Elizabeth walk that goes through woods and has a number of wandering routes. There are also great roads for people who like to run or bike.

House Rules

-Be respectful of properties and peoples.

Mike was great along with his sister. They made us feel at home. We brought our 1 yr old cattle mix Riley with us and they were very accommodating to us and Riley. Riley loved being able to roam the house and felt at ease which was good. Check in was easy along with communication... only 15 minutes to get into the heart of downtown Portland but it was nice to stay nearby a farm. Great park only 3 miles down the road that is an off-leash dog trail area with ponds for swimming

Michael is a great host that made Jamie and I feel accommodated while visiting from New Jersey to Portland, Maine. Great location with a genuine feel that makes you feel comfortable of a unique farmhouse.

Michael provided all information needed upon our arrival and remained easily reachable, and the room was prepared and cleaned. He told us about a beautiful place to see the sunset on our last day! The house itself is beautiful, safely tucked away from downtown yet everywhere was easily accessible by car. We very much enjoyed our stay, and would recommend it to anyone planning on visiting places nearby.

Nice, quiet neighborhood, not too far from downtown. Traffic was randomly difficult one day, but a total breeze the other, and the drive into downtown was pretty so it wasn't really an issue. Despite being obviously quite busy, our host(s) were very accommodating. Arrival/check-in was very smooth, and we had a lot of fun talking with Michael and Celeste (another roommate). Both were very chill, clearly interested in making sure we enjoyed our stay, and pretty interesting to boot. The provided sheets, bedding and towels were perfectly clean and entirely comfortable. The room was quiet and had good privacy. One door is a curtain, which may be an issue for some, but I found it completely fine. At no point did I feel unsafe, insecure, or lacking privacy. The bathroom was clean enough, but not perfectly so. My girlfriend and I were comfortable with it, but it wasn't sparkling. I don't really like having to write this, because we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend this place, but it seems better to mention this so other prospective guests can align their expectations appropriately. Overall I totally recommend this place. Good value, good location, good accommodations.

We had a great stay at Michael's beautiful farm house. It was a bit cool and rainy the weekend we stayed, but Michael's home was so warm and comfortable. The location was perfect. We were able to get to downtown Portland in about 15 minutes or less, but still come "home" to a quiet retreat. We would definitely recommend staying at Michael's farmhouse! Thank you, Michael!

I'm in residency training for anesthesiology, and am an avid skier and surfer. I love discovering new music, and picking up a good book to read.
