About this listing

This is the same room description as the "Retro Blue" room suite. However, it does not have its own private full bath and private library/den. When rented as a room only, the bath and library/den become common area options for other guests.
Guests are not allowed to have pets of any kind.

The space

The upstairs "Retro Blue" room has a retro vibe and very cozy. It's location makes the guest feel as though they have the whole upstairs to themselves

Guest access

Guests will have access to all the common spaces in the house: Living room, dining room, pool table, piano, back yard and deck. Guests may also use the microwave in the upstairs den or kitchen. No cooking, baking or use of the stove is allowed by guests.

Interaction with guests

We greet our guest upon arrival and will be available at all times either in person or via text for any questions they may have.

Other things to note

The guests in this room may hear trickling water within the walls at night. Not to worry, it's only the hot water circulating through the baseboard radiators in the room. It's not loud, but could cause a guest who didn't know to think that the heading system may be leaking. It is not. :-)

My boyfriend and I had a fantastic trip in Monticello at Jim's lovely home! From great accommodations in both our room and beyond, an amazingly decorated home (very clean and organized too!) to awesome conversations, wine and pool-table access, and a full spread for breakfast, we cannot say enough good things about our stay here. Jim is super friendly and outgoing, has had great experiences with interesting stories to tell, and provides everything you could need and want as a host. We hope to be back soon! Thanks for everything, Jim!

Jim and Dave were very welcoming and friendly. We felt at home. We rented all three rooms that were available - five of us stayed there for two nights while we attended a family wedding. The beds were very comfortable, rooms were great, breakfast was perfect! We have stayed at many AirBNB locatons and will say this was one of the best!

Jim's house is pretty cool, cozy and comfortable. And Jim himself is so nice and considerate. Great stay here!

We loved Jim's house. It was spacious, clean, and very stylishly decorated in the mid century motif. Amenities included a pool table, a piano, and a beautiful fire place that kept us warm while it was -15F degree outside. Jim himself was very hospitable and accommodating. He made himself available if we had any questions or needs, and even asked us what we wanted for breakfast. (Breakfast by the way was both delicious and exactly what we had asked for.) Jim was very knowledgeable of the area and was kind enough to give us some recommendations for how to keep busy on a frigid weekend in the Catskills, which as a result made our weekend getaway much more fun. We would definitely recommend Jim and his house and do plan on coming back in the near future!

We enjoyed our stay at Jim's home tremendously. He was very friendly, engaging, and accomodating. When he discovered that one in our party was gluten free, he adjusted the breakfast to accommodate us. The house is clean, decorated tastefully, and conveniently located. We felt at home. There were no other guests during our stay so we had the entire upper floor to ourself. That was especially nice. We highly recommended this place.
