About this listing
This creative collective space is in the lovely Bergheimerstraße in Heidelberg. The space is versatile, it is used for co-working, workshops, cultural events as well as accommodation. It's an inspiring place to be within walking distance of old town. Very centrally located (highly accessible but not loud), close to major train and bus stops, parking available, also close to many sights and attractions.
This is is quite possibly the most interesting and most spacious location in Heidelberg listed on Airbnb.
This spacious and very centrally-located studio is a creative collective owned and managed by a group of working individuals. It is used as an event space, as well as accommodation. When you stay here you are helping finance the rent of this space, which is used as a platform for creatives in the Heidelberg area. We have co-working, concerts, workshops, and parties in this space when there is no one staying for the night.
The space is split into two rooms by a sliding door. The front space features a bar/kitchen, dining room, and living room areas. In the back there are two bathrooms, one with a shower. The back room where the sleeping space is, also features a work space for multiple people (used for co-working on Fridays from 10:00-18:00). There is a lot of natural light and interesting details to enjoy when staying here.
TO BE CLEAR: This is not like an apartment or a hotel room.
Think of it as an event venue. It is a unique space with lots of charm, and a certain artistic flair. Many pieces of furniture we built ourselves. Some things look unfinished. Some things actually ARE.
Don't misunderstand me, it's a great space, but part of making sure that guests have a great time is making sure that we are connecting with the right guests.
We don't have a full industrial kitchen with ovens big enough to roast a turkey in. We have a bar, equipped with a couple small refrigerators, a sink, a dishwasher, an electric water kettle, and electric stove, a microwave oven, and a few other appliances which can be made available for you, such as our outdoor grills.
We created a bathroom area where previously there was nothing, installing walls, floors and plumbing ourselves.
You won't find a closet filled with white-fluffy bathrobes embroidered with our insignia, or a bathroom stocked with uniformly-labelled miniature soaps, shampoos, and hand creams.
If you're looking for some sterile and polished overnight experience, look elsewhere. If you want to feel like you're in a luxury hotel, book with one of them, not with us. On the other hand, if you're flexible and open to new and adventurous experiences, you will be quite pleased with what we offer.
We've made no secret that our space is a work-in-progress, which you will also read in many of the comments and reviews we've gotten.
Some points to consider:
-We have several electrical components installed, but not yet connected. Not every wall outlet has power running to it.
-There is a flaw in how we installed the floor of the shower. We have a few different interim solutions, so we just have to laugh it off and deal with it with a good attitude. (To be more specific, the floor isn't graded correctly to drain water toward the drain hole. We have crafted a removable shower tub to stand in, and there is also a squeegee.)
-Our studio receives a high volume of traffic, from our team, to corporate clients in the daytime, to overnight Airbnb guests. We clean the space before and after every event, but if you're the type to put on white cotton gloves and run your hand along every surface and corner, you will likely be disappointed. We're not a hospital, but we are quite hospitable.
Historically, many of our guests are absolutely thrilled with our space, love the design, the look, the feel, the size, the location, the price, they really enjoyed themselves and completely loved the place. Meanwhile, there are some who, after explaining their disappointment, have admitted that they did not bother to read the description at all.
We recognize that not everything is "perfect" and we are priced accordingly, cheaper than most hotel rooms and comparable spaces on Airbnb. Despite it's imperfections, the space has a lot of charm, and a lot of soul.
We invite you to check us out, and if you're not sure, we're always available to answer questions.
You are welcome to access all parts of the space.
Some special features include:
We have a lovely little patio in the courtyard, which is super nice in the spring and summer.
There is a bar and a little shop section at the front of the space which you are welcome to enjoy, donations for the local goods and drinks are appreciated, prices are listed.
We provide bedding and towels.
Parking is free on our side of the street and there are usually spaces available directly in front of the door. There is also a very convenient bus/tram stop about 10-15 steps away from the entrance to our courtyard.
Interaction with guests
We are a 10 minute walk from Heidelberg Hbf (Main Station).
Check In: One of us will be at the space to welcome you, and to answer any questions you have about the city and local spots to checkout! Check-in is generally at 3pm all days except Fridays (*Friday check-in is at 18:00 because we have co-working until then.) Check out is generally at 12:00. If your travel plans include checking in or out at a different time, we're pretty flexible, but check for availability.

Other things to note
This is a very versatile space. Keep in mind that people don't only stay here for accommodation. Coworking happens here on Fridays from 10-18:00, Parties are held here, concerts, diy-workshops, so it is not your regular hotel room. It's much more multi-faceted and fun than a classic BnB.
The studio is also a great location for purposes outside of overnight accommodation, such as photography or business meetings.
We get a lot of large groups, and you might say we are optimized for groups. Many of these are parties, like bachelor/ette parties. We love these sort of events and also enjoy helping organize them. For example, we've had bridesmaids who wanted to have photo-shoots, make their own dresses or matching handbags, and other crafty or artistic activities. We can arrange things like Turkish belly dancing lessons. Whether or not we are involved in your celebrations, we hope you have a great time and also request that you keep it classy. Also, we aren't so fond of cleaning up confetti anymore, because it tends to find places to hide until months after you've left.
Your stay may coincide with one of our other events (usually in the daytime), so please check for availability.
Also, now that you've read my lengthy description of our studio space, write me a message with the secret password, fishtank, to let me know that you're the sort of guest I like to host (the kind who reads everything thoroughly), and I'll offer you a little discount as a token of my appreciation. This offer is only valid before the reservation is finalized. Even if you don't book with us, I'll give you a little bonus during your visit to Heidelberg.
Have Fun: We expect that you will have a great stay with us. That's the number one rule!
Neighbors: Please respect our neighbors and be quiet in the courtyard after 10pm.
Smoking: Please smoke outside in the patio and use the ashtrays provided.
Donations: Any drink and shop item you use/purchase, we trust you will pay for in the donation box.
Communication: Call us any time. Let's keep the line of communication open! If you need anything special don't hesitate to ask.
