About this listing

A comfortable room and a good breakfast in my tiny Victorian house in a quiet street London's lively East End, just 7 minutes walk to Stratford station with its excellent transport connections.

The space

The house is an end terrace brick built 19th Century Railway cottage
It is small uncluttered, simple, comfortable and clean. It has nothing fancy but all the basic things, including wi fi.

Your room is upstairs, It is small but it has a very comfortable double bed, washbasin, and storage space.
Downstairs (steep stairs!) is the living-dining room with an open fire, a galley kitchen leading to a tiny garden, the bathroom, also downstairs (shower ) is shared .
I certainly can’t compete with a hotel, the room is small, but it is very clean, the sheets are cotton and will be ironed, the pillows are feather, there are towels, bath robes a hairdryer and a universal adaptor..

You will have your own door key so you can come and go any time. There is wi fi. The kitchen is small and not great for sharing but you are welcome to use it to prepare simple meals and snacks. I provide a cereal, toast, tea coffee fruit for breakfast.

You will be my only guests during your stay.
When you arrive I will give you your door keys, show you the ropes- wifi pass words, house eccentricities and local information and leave you to settle in.

This is my home, you will be my welcome guest, I want you to feel comfortable, at
I will do my best to make you feel at home, while respecting your privacy.I want you to feel welcome comfortable while you are are here. I am always happy to spend a little time with my guest swapping stories, and will help out with local information, but I am aware that you are not in London to see me, there is always a lot to do and see here, so when you are home you will need calm and privacy and space!

The area is lively, mixed and changing fast. There are good shops, a multi screen cinema and dozens of places to eat in the new Westfield Center, which I am told is the biggest shopping mall in Europe, There is typical east end market, good local pubs, and little cafe's restaurants on the route from my house to the station.

Stratford station has the Jubilee line and the central line ( 15 mins to the City 20 to Westminster. Docklands light rail- to Canary Wharf, Greenwich -cutty sark and Maratime museum. Overground to Richmond and Kew gardens. Rail to essex and connections to Eurostar.

Guest access

When you arrive I will give you a set of keys - or a set each if there are two of you. After that just feel at home and come and go as you please. You are welcome to use the living room, and the kitchen for preparing snacks. I can't offer my guests laundering facilities but there is a service wash laundrette near by, so you can drop off laundry and collect it at the end of the day.

Interaction with guests

I want my guests to feel comfortable, welcome and at home. I love to hear their stories and am happy to help out with maps planning ideas for days out , but I know London can be tiring and that you will need quiet, and privacy at the end of a busy day.

Other things to note

There are nice clean white bathrobes shampoo and shower jell.

Its a no smoking house.
Its not a great place for very young, children wh arejust walking or crawling because of the steep stairs. But I do like children and older children are very welcome. Just remember, the room is very small and has one double bed.

It's perfect for 1-2 guests. It's close to public transport, shopping mall, restaurants. Alison is a very nice host, with her traditional English breakfast: tea, coffee, jam cereals, home made fresh bread. Breakfast was ready by the time we agreed. The house was clear. We enjoyed our stay in London and in Alison's home very much. We can offer this accomodation for everybody.

Alison was an amazing host and everything was exactly how she said it would be. She was good to interact with and had good conversation, but left us to ourselves. Everything was easy to get to from her place and she was great. The room was clean and everything went well. No complaints

Alison is friendly and is always trying to help and talk to you, making you feel comfortable all the time. She's friendly and asks about your day or any other think you'd like to talk. Her house is small but comfy. Just don't go there with large baggage like I did, otherwise you'll have troubles going upstairs. The house is near Stratford Underground Station (about 8min walk), which easily leads you to the heart of London. If you want to come back home late, I'd recommend an Uber or cab, that you can take at the station and you'll be safe at home in 5min... Breakfast is homemade and delicious. You just have to say to Alison what time you'd like to eat and your meal will be there even earlier.

Great location - near Stratford station. We were able to get into the centre of the city in about 20 minutes. Alison made us feel very welcome but also let us have our own privacy. She made us a fantastic breakfast with home made bread and the room was perfect for our brief visit to London. Very good value for money. Alison also sorted a visitors parking permit right outside the house for a small fee.

I am an artist who loves to travel. For the past few years mainly in Africa. I know how much the place you stay can affect your trip. its important to start and end your day in a comfortable, secure, welcoming place. As a solo traveler I often need the help of local people. If you choose to be my guest I will do my best to make you feel comfortable and at home, help with information, and give you space.
I think home should be a clean, uncluttered and and relaxing place.
