The Bali Room is one of two spacious bedrooms (each 11' x 17') in the Guest Wing with access to the den, and a private bathroom. Wing is a new addition to a 1925 shingled bungalow with abundant light, green outlooks, French doors, and balconies. Preference will be given to two night minimum reservations on the weekends during the summer months.

The space

This beautifully remodeled home blends Craftsman qualities with modern amenities. Guests enter through the kitchen door and the guest wing is located nine steps upstairs. The house floorplan affords privacy, relaxation, and comfortable spaciousness. Two bedrooms are available, both with queen size mattresses. The Beaver Room presents a Pacific Northwest decor, and the Bali Room is outfitted from the hosts' travel in Indonesia, including a batik bedspread purchased directly off the artist's clothesline in rural Bali. One bathroom is a combo bath and shower upstairs and the second shower-only bathroom is on the kitchen level. Guests have exclusive use of the bathrooms, plus robes for accessing the bathrooms..

Guest access

Guests' access includes their bedroom and bathroom exclusively. The adjacent den/workspace is shared if the second bedroom is occupied. There is a refrigerator and a microwave as well as a coffee maker and a tea maker, in the guest area. Host's kitchen is not available for guest use.

Interaction with guests

The hosts are recently transplanted from California to the Portland area, and are eager to discover and share new favorite places. Interaction is welcome, as the guests wish. We are happy to share interests in travel, the arts, sports, and world events. Our adult children live in New York and Paris, and help broaden our horizons.

Other things to note

A playful two year old dog is part of the household. Ravi is a Coton, a 13 pound neutered male. He takes his self-appointed role as guardian of the house seriously, and barks when people arrive. Dogs and their families are warmly welcomed, and please anticipate a friendly, yet noisy wag-n-sniff time. We are located down a short private driveway off Walker Road. The yard is not fenced, and due to proximity to the road, it's safest to keep dogs leashed.

This was the most gracious couple and nicest place we visited on our trip. They have set up a completely separate area for guests with a lovely room, art on the wall, luggage rack, bottles of water with glasses, small fridge stocked with yogurt, coffee maker, bathroom with amenities. The space was actually designed for a b and b. It doesn't get any better; we loved it.

Linda's place was very warm and inviting, as was this couple! Our stay was short, but Linda accommodated our late request and made us feel at home. We enjoyed the space and privacy offered and would come back again!

My stay was lovely! Clean, comfortable and beautiful space. What sets this place apart from others is Linda's generosity and the robes. Literally the most comfortable robes! Linda made me tea upon arrival, offered me wine at dinner, made coffee before I woke up, and made me breakfast! She is a lovely lady and Ravi the dog, though very protective, is a gentle sweetheart!

Sophia, thanks for your kind words. It was a pleasure to meet you, and we hope you will return with your husband. Jon and I send best wishes to you both, and Ravi says "woof."

Jon and Linda are wonderful!! My wife, dog (Mango), and I had a lovely time at the Beaver Den. We really enjoyed getting to know this sweet couple and share stories. They truly made us feel at home from start to finish. Ravi, their dog, and Mango really hit if off too! And such a beautiful home! We only stayed for one night, but felt like family when we said goodbye. Will definitely be back when/if we are in the area again :)

Linda & Jon (Ravi, too) are gracious and friendly hosts offering a pristine home ... private bedroom, private bath (sparkling!) and sitting room in a secluded wing, connecting to the main home through the kitchen. As this was our first Airbnb experience, we were somewhat hesitant; however Linda eased our fears with prompt email response and generous help with our questions. Jon welcomed us on arrival and gave us a thorough tour and tips on the home; Linda greeted us the next morning and invited us to join them for breakfast ... setting the tone of warm welcome and budding friendship that continued throughout our week-and-a-half stay. When we inquired (in advance by email) about possibility of kitchen access to accommodate our simple breakfast preferences (coffee and refrigerator space to hold a few yogurt cups and a bottle of juice), Linda readily agreed and made room for us to share the kitchen with their family. Since we are not dog owners (and both of us are challenged by allergies) we were unsure about sharing space in a dog's home. Our fears were for naught; Ravi is a delight and my wife, who never owned a dog, was so captivated that she began entertaining ideas of getting a dog. The home is convenient for access anywhere in Washington County, and the nearby MAX station makes it handy for mass-transit access to the entire Portland area. In short, Linda and Jon with their lovely home, made our intro to Airbnb and terrific experience.

Linda and Jon were very personable, accommodating, and welcoming. There dog was very friendly and had a great time with ours! Our host's home was well laid out for guest privacy with the kitchen in a convenient location. Our room and common areas were spotless. The bed was very comfortable and I appreciated the bottled waters they provided in the room. Robes and a dog dish and blanket were also available to us. The house was beautifully appointed with fabulous artwork. The location couldn't have been a better fit for convenient proximity to Max transit and freeway connections.

Linda and John are excellent hosts! Their home is beautiful, super-clean and inviting. I was given access to comfortable work space as well as an awesome bathroom. Linda brought tea and muffins for breakfast. One of the best hosts I've met, and I've met many!

Linda's currently works for the Portland dance presenter, White Bird. Her career has been devoted to the arts as a curator and fundraiser for UCLA School of Arts and Architecture, UC Berkeley Cal Performances, San Francisco Ballet, and San Jose Museum of Art. Linda had an art consulting business in San Francisco for a dozen years, acquired art, and produced exhibitions for Marin County, Transamerica and Chevron. Jon's career focused on transportation and planning. Rising to political challenges over seven years, he chaired the Freeway Removal Committee, which ultimately reconnected and renewed San Francisco's waterfront. We joined forces on the Fine Arts Guidelines Committee that created the Per Cent for Public Art Program. We love to travel and enjoy people, the arts and culture of other places. Linda, Jon and Ravi have lived in Portland OR since June 2015.
