The appartment is on the first floor and is light and spacious with a bedroom and a livingroom with balcony, a kitchen corner with fridge and cooking area as well as a small bathroom with a shower. Everything was clean and in good condition. Both rooms have several windows and as the rooms are lying opposite to each other (one towards the street and the other towards the courtyard) it is easy to open the windows in both rooms to allow for fresh air. The terrace is open to all the neighbours but is hardly used by anyone therefore not really cosy but good for a drink at sunset, the view is opening towards the sea and the Galataa Tower. The house is located in a traditional quiet street with pittoresque scenarios such as laundry hanging across the street for drying, little baskets being lifted up and down during the day for easy delivery and happy children playing safely. The area is Tophane, directly between Galataa, Cihangir, Istiklal and Karaköy with great link to public transport such as metro (Shishane), tram (Tophane - great for airport connection), bus (towards Besiktas) and boat (Kabatas/Karaköy). In walking distance you can find many shops, cafes, restaurants, galleries and some mosques and other sightseeing spots which makes the appartment a perfect starting point to discover Istanbul walking. Halil was a great host, very helpful and could be reached at any time. His cafe is nearby and has a great variety of Turkish food. We enjoyed our 5-days-stay very much and would return again.
