In the heart of the city, two matrimonial rooms, 2 bathrooms, living and kitchen, 5 balconies, double glazing, air conditioning, wi-fi. A luminous and silent apartment in a 15th century totally renovated elegant building, 2nd floor with lift (very rare in the old town).

The space

The Cathedral Guest House, in the heart of Palermo, offers elegant, luminous and silent matrimonial rooms on the second floor of a 15th century totally renovated building, with elevator. Each room comes with its private bathroom with shower, free WiFi, double glazing, heating and air conditioning. At your disposal is a bright living room with balconies and an fully equipped kitchen overlooking a small square, typical of Palermo Old Town: you'll feel part of the city, always preserving your privacy.
Guests can always have mineral water, tea, infusions and chamomile for free. Breakfast is served only on request for an additional cost of 8 euros/people: you would enjoy typical fresh local sweets like "cannoli", "iris con ricotta", "cassate".
As a super host I will always be happy to share with you tips and information about the most typical restaurants, secret corners, events and places of interest not to be missed.
The Ballarò market, the Norman Palace, the Botanical Garden, the many Baroque and Arab-Norman churches, are just some examples of the destinations which you can reach in a few minutes on foot or by bike: ask for a guided bike tour to discover the secret corners of the largest historical center in Italy! Welcome to Palermo!

Guest access

Please notice that I have only matrimonial rooms. If your reservation is for two guests, I usually close the second double bedroom, as well as the second bathroom. If the reservation is for more than 2 guests, you will enjoy obviously both rooms and both bathrooms.
In both cases, you will have at your disposal the kitchen and the living room.
You can ask for the use of both bedrooms for only two guests, but you will be charged of an additional cost of 20 euros per day.

Interaction with guests

I keep looking at my city like I was a tourist, so I will share with you many tips about Palermo.
You will not find a TV in the apartment...this is a choice !
By the way: the best way to experience the Old Town is by bicycle! Ask for a guided bike tour with me among monuments, good food and history! Cycling has never been so cultural and comfortable!

Other things to note

HOW TO GET HERE:
From July 2015 onwards Palermo’s Arab-Norman Itinerary has become an UNESCO heritage site. This recognition comes with various traffic restrictions on via Vittorio Emanuele, the main road leading to my apartment.
By car, please, pay attention: web maps of the recent huge restricted traffic zone (ZTL) are not yet updated !! I suggest to park at "Piazza Papireto" (off the ZTL) that you can easily reach following this path: Corso Calatafimi, Piazza Indipendenza, Corso Alberto Amedeo, Via Matteo Bonello, Piazza Papireto.
Then you will walk 5 minutes along Via Bonello, Via Gioeni, Via Sant'Agata alla Guilla and Via del Celso.

More: I can arrange a taxi transfer from/to the airport and suggest a bus or a train or a good car rental downtown to continue your visit of other cities in Sicily. Don't hesitate to ask me for more details.

The official web site of the airport, for more information about connections, is available on internet under the name "GESAP".

The Apartment: As described. Extremely comfortable. Strong wifi signal. The Location: Very central. Only a couple of hundred metres from the cathedral and within easy walking distance of most major attractions. An excellent inexpensive Tunisian restaurant – Al Manar – just around the corner in Via Sant Isidoro and, slightly more expensive but brilliant food, do try Osteria Pane e Alivi in Piazza Sant Onofrio. Our Host: Giancarlo was an excellent host, speaking very fluent English. Not only did he advise us on places to see but arranged for us to be collected from the airport by taxi at only €40. He also arranged a hire car at a very reasonable price which was delivered to the apartment and we dropped off at the airport. Overall: Highly recommended.

Giancarlo's place is a peaceful comfortable haven amidst the frentic streets of Palermo. The entire flat is thoughtfully decorated and finished to a high standard throughout. The kitchen is stocked with lots of useful bits and bobs (oil etc) which can be rare in airbnb places. Both bedrooms are lovely, beds the most comfortable we experienced in ages, lots of fluffy pillows and cushions. Both bathrooms (you are spoilt with TWO!) are very clean, modern and stylish with several shower gels, shampoos and conditioners to choose from. The living space is large and comfortable. The lift is another treat, so rare in Palermo! It was such a comfortable space we were very reluctant to leave. Also - Giancarlo is one of those dream hosts: seamless check-in process, friendly and very helpful about essential things to know about transport and food options in the city. He is clearly proud of his city! Even after check-in he helped us with numerous queries we had about the city and was even able to help us work out a very obscure travel route to our next destination without our feeling bad about asking so many questions. Thank you Giancarlo for a perfect stay.

Giancarlo's accommodation was exceptionally clean, well located and spacious. Four of us stayed and appreciated having a bathroom for each couple. We also appreciated having 'starter' food available so we could take breakfast before exploring the local supermarket. Giancarlo was excellent at sharing local tips and locations to eat and explore. What I REALLY appreciated was his sensitivity and tenacious support in finding an osteopath and pharmacy to help relieve a back problem I arrived with in Palermo. I could not have found this support without his help. Giancarlo is thoroughly recommended for his accommodation and helpful support.

My friend and I loved everything about the apartment. Giancarlo was super kind and informative, and he responded to our questions immediately. The whole place was immaculate and spacious. We were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was! Only a very short walk to the main street, and we felt safe and happy at all times. You can't go wrong by staying here.
