About this listing

The building is an eclectic and creative project, art abounds throughout the unit with a keen interest toward reuse. The apartment in many ways acts as a reminder to our love of the planet, rescuing furnishings/art/decor & giving them a new audience to appreciate their detail. We love rainbows reflected by leaded glass windows and french doors. We appreciate the quiet of the long spacious suites and soaking in the old clawfoot tubs. And community!

The space

This ground floor flat is airy and spacious. The apartment is set-up for guests to enjoy the living room, dining room, well-equipped kitchen, and two bathrooms as a communal space, very similar to how a hostel functions. The 2000 sqft unit has three private bedrooms toward the back of the apartment with ample closet and drawer space. Visible from the front windows is Rockefeller Park, one of Cleveland’s treasured forested greenways, where deer and a plethora of birds congregate. You'll feel enchanted enough to meditate, write a book, dance or sing. This 100 year old building with crown moldings & wood floors is not shiny sleek, but it’s old world charm act as a reminder to the importance of a well-paced life (with Wi-Fi, of course).

This building is dedicated to art, literature, music, meditation, and gardening with the occasional dinner, movie, music salon or art exhibition popping up somewhere. Our learning garden is an active space spring through fall. It’s an easy space to lean into, but be careful not to fall thru the looking glass.

Guest access

You enjoy access to kitchen, & all common areas. Gently used odds and ends fill this eclectic space. Our kitchen is a throwback to your grandparents, equipped with gas stoves and cast iron sinks, although with a microwave, blender and coffee & tea makers, for guest’s convenience.

Coffee, tea, oatmeal, eggs & bread are usually in the kitchen & pantry.

You will find what you need for sleep, studying, lounging and cooking (including desk, lamp, chair, surge protector)

Wi-Fi exists in the privacy of your room, the kitchen and den.

Guest may access movie theater, garden, and gallery, and books (with permission or cooperative's small users fee).

Linen & bedding for long term (more than one month) will be worked out, and personalized for individual use, upon arriving. A separate but reasonable security deposit or fee may apply under some circumstances.

Interaction with guests

Interaction with Guests
As often as you like. We will help acclimate you to the building and the neighborhood. We’re long-term art loving Clevelanders who are passionate about our city, so if you’re looking for off-the-beaten path attractions, art openings, music/performance-based events, or museums we’d be more than happy to assist.

We don't mind hosting new members of the airbnb community, but we do require anyone requesting to stay at our home to have a completed profile (this includes a photo).

We truly appreciate your staying with us! We require that all guests provides ID before booking our place. This is our humble home and community space. There are installations & art treasures throughout the property. Help us keep them and ourselves safe by paying attention to the following concerns:
We are committed to a light carbon footprint.

Treat it like you would your own home. Leave it like you found it.

No remember—absolutely no smoking, incense, or candles— just sweet vibes.

Leave apartment keys on the hallway foyer desk or drawer before leaving

Our building is a thriving artists’ haven, so we welcome guests to have folks over for a meal or conversation (with permission only) , though we request no overnight visitors.

The apartment is a shared space, so we are diligent in ensuring all guests have an enjoyable and safe stay.

—Pull up and park out front. Text or call when you hit the city by land or air and kindly give us anywhere from 15 minutes to 1/2 hr advance notice.

We enter/exit the building using a security code and will share upon your arrival.

Please post your arrival and departure times to the Airbnb message thread once confirmed. An hour to half hour heads-up before pulling up to the building is exceedingly helpful. This allows us have a general idea of when to expect you—and to perhaps meet you downstairs or at the front door.

Long Term Guests (stays of over 10 days) may, upon arriving, be subject to a lease agreement & security fee equal to the portion of applicable rent. And/or a liability waiver for the duration of stay,

Long term guests are responsible for maintaining their own living quarters and bathrooms. Non-Toxic and non-abrasive cleaning tools and equipment are in hallway closets and under sinks. We will point them out to you.

We like to count our chickens at night so giving us an approximation of your schedule (what time you leave and return at night) is very helpful to management. Be respectful and considerate of cultural differences.

Oh yeah,

Due to the fact that we are an old building, repairs come up from time to time that necessitate giving guests a suitably comparable alternative space anywhere among our suites. All are quality spaces with bedroom & study access.

Archey and Julie are a wonderful host. The room was perfect and quaint. There was an error on booking but they worked hard to address the issue which was greatly appreciated. The rain shower was amazing and the home had a lot of character. I had no issues with checking in or out and it about a 5 min Uber to Case Western, where my event was.

Arcey and Julie were amazing hosts and have a very welcoming space. The units are thoughtfully designed and I loved how carefully they curated the artwork and items in each room. I looked forward to seeing them in the evening when I'd get back to the flat and thoroughly enjoyed their conversation. I'll be sure to stay with Arcey and Julie next time I visit Cleveland.

This was my first time at Airbnb and it couldn't have been any better. Arcey and Julia are two of the most incredibly warm, down to earth inspiring people I've ever met. For me it was like coming back to visit family that I haven't seen in a while, I was truly touched by them. The building is amazing, old beautiful and full of personality, each room has character and energy and it's an expression of their artistic soul, they even have a small movie theater in the basement :) When we arrived Arcey gave us a tour of the city and drove us to watch Lake Erie, the city skyline and then we went to West side Market and got some delicious cheese and olives. When we woke up the next day they were really nice and cooked us delicious breakfast and we enjoyed interesting conversation about humor, politics, soul searching and life. We even watched some SNL videos. They were super flexible with our arrival and checkout; they even offered to keep our bags for the rest of the day so we could go to the Museum of Art (that is 5 min away from their house). It was just a weekend in Cleveland for a wedding that turned into a beautiful, inspiring experience thanks to them :) Thank you Julie and Arcey

I'm a humble gardener, super/building manager. I enjoy making people happy and supporting artists, scholars, everyday people & other migrating creatures (monarchs, goldfinches, bees and seeds) in their daily efforts to live, work, create and thrive. Sharing meals, conversation, music, fine local liquid libations (such as Great Lakes Beer) and sweet soulful vibrations, is joy simplified and love in action. Expanding my awareness of the natural world means being a great host plant. I can dig it!
