The neighbourhood

Safe, quiet tree-lined street with convenient parking and yummy restaurant on the corner. It's very centrally located so it's easy to get anywhere in the city!

Getting around

There are two bus stops about 1.5 blocks away. The #4 and #3 both take you into downtown. The #3 stops right in front of the McCormick center. The green line is several blocks away (on Indiana) and takes you downtown too.

House Rules
No smoking
Not suitable for pets
No parties or events
Check in is anytime after 5PM

Please keep these few, simple and (some may say common sense) rules in mind while you're my guest:

Please be mindful of your energy consumption:
• Turn off the lights when you leave the room and especially when you leave the house.
• Turn off the TV when you leave. Use the timer when you're drifting off to sleep.
• Use water as needed. Did you see Colgate's Super Bowl commercial? Please shut off the water while you're brushing your teeth (I hope you're brushing;); it's just wasteful not to. When you're going to wash yourself, remember that it takes less than a minute for the shower to get warm not 5 minutes. Occasionally you need a nice long shower. I've had those days so I know. Most of the time short and sweet is the way to be.
• I want you to be comfortable in my home. Still when you're heading out for the day please keep the thermostat at 65 degrees when it's cold and 72 when its hot.

There are cleaning supplies available for you to keep the space tidy during your stay. Don't be shy about using them :-)

If you spill on the couch or the bed PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know. Do not try to hide it. Use soap and water to get what you can up and just let me know so I can be sure to get it cleaned. It won't affect your wallet, I promise!

In general just respect my home and property. Treat it as if it were your own (or better ;-).

Chicago is an amazing city so make sure to have an awesome time!

Nicole was good with communication prior to arrival and her partner Bradley was helpful once we arrived. The apartment is clean, nicely decorated and updated. Linens are of good quality and plentiful. Parking is easy (street) and free unlike so many other areas in the city. The neighborhood is historic with charm however is also undergoing revitalization so there are nearby empty lots and unoccupied buildings. The location was ideal for us (central) as we had plans on both the north and far south sides of Chicago. The space and layout of the apartment is nice, felt much more comfortable than a hotel room ever could have. The washer and dryer are a plus! Make sure you visit the new supermarket nearby, Mariano's, has lots to offer in terms of variety and quality.

This is a basement apartment so a lot of what's happening upstairs can be heard. The hosts were aware of this and conscience of their movements since we didn't hear much and it wasn't really an issue during our stay. The apartment is not completely finished, it's close and what's been done looks great but if you are looking for an immaculate finished place it's not there yet. The furniture and beds are comfortable and bathroom has washer/dryer which is great. Great big soaking tub as well! There was major construction going on out front, no accessibility to the main road out front so had to use the back alley which was narrow to get to the apartment. Work was underway on the Saturday so a lot of construction noise. Hosts were very friendly and helpful in explaining things about the apartment. Allowed us to check in early which was helpful.

Great little place. Clean and well kept. Everything we needed in the kitchen. Washer dryer is a huge plus!

The host was very welcoming. The neighborhood was quiet but not really walkable to much. It's about a $40 cab ride from the airport and about a $15 cab ride downtown. The apartment was well-appointed and has been updated. This is a basement unit with limited natural light--it wasn't a problem for me but merits noting for others.
