The space

Dear friends and guests of FunTasticPrague,

After collecting more than 130 very good and excellent reviews for accommodating guests in our private apartment we now have the chance to offer you more – more space, more comfort, more flexibility:

From September 2015 on we have the pleasure to welcome you at ARCO Guesthouse, a cosy little hotel just five minutes from where we live.

We have 4 pretty rooms and 3 studios in a small building in a quiet neighbourhood, just 5 minutes from the next tram stop, 15 minutes from the next metro stop and at about 30 minutes walking distance from the city center. There's plenty of restaurants and cafés in the vicinity, two of them in one of Prague's most beautiful and romantic parks just around the corner.

This profile shows you room no. 7, our largest one with a small entrance hall, a kitchenette plus kitchenware, fridge, kettle and microwave, a bathroom, and a spacious living and bedroom with a TV and Wifi. It has a double bed and a couch/cot so that it sleeps altogether 4 guests.

Most important: Communication. Our highlight those past four years has always been the contact to our guests. Whatever they wanted to know we tried to answer. We will tell you what's good and what's not, how to get around, how to avoid tourist traps and crowds, we will recommend places for food and drink as well as tips for theatre, music and other events, we help you not to be lost in translation and, above all, as a hobby (art) historian, I can offer you my individual walking seminars to known and unknown places in the city (See what people say in their reviews).

You will have a large breakfast spread every morning, offering quite a few local specialities, plenty of literature on Prague, slideshows on what to see and more.

We speak German, English, French, Italian, Czech and Slovak.

Guest access

We're just a small guesthouse - it's your room, a corridor, a staircase (1 floor up) and the breakfast café - but be sure we'll help you to make the most of it...

We are there for you between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. - if you arrive later we charge a late arrival fee of € 10. PLEASE LET US KNOW AT WHAT TIME APPROX. YOU'RE PLANNING TO ARRIVE - it accelerates your check-in and helps us planning.

Interaction with guests

Your most important meeting point is our breakfast café - this is the place where you can ask us all you'd like to know about Prague, where you find literature and information and where you can book our Walking Seminars and more.

The neighbourhood

Our little street is not very conspicuous. But right around the corner you will find one of Prague's most beautiful and romantic parks, one street up and beyond are several restaurants, one of them vegan, an alternative pub with live music, some cafés and shops. A ten minutes' walk through several parks will bring you to a lively street market (Wed-Sat), to one of Prague's most remarkable churches and to interesting neighbourhoods off the beaten path. And more.

Getting around

You walk 5 minutes uphill to get to a line 22 tramstop. This line gets you directly downtown, past famous old cafés such as Louvre, Slavia or Savoy, to the National Theatre, the river, the Lesser Town, the castle, the Strahov and Loreta Monasteries and other attractions. Walk 15 minutes to the next metro stop and pass a 24/7 grocery and convenience store with ATM, a drugstore, cafés, restaurants etc.

Other things to note

If you're just looking for a place to stay, there's plenty of accommodation right downtown. Our guests combine the simplicity of our guesthouse with the wealth of information they get.

In case you'd like to take someone with you, this person has to check in like anyone else.

' Click on the superhost filter', my son insisted, the search on Airbnb threw up ARCO as one of the options. It was within our budget and on reading the reviews and the description, what attracted us further was the information we could get on history & culture. ARCO accepted our reservation for 20th & 21st May, contact was established with Guenther. He is very prompt in responding and gives information on sights to see even in other cities,he guided us regarding intercity travel, very detailed guidelines on how to get to ARCO even suggesting sites we could look out for when travelling to ARCO. On our arrival, he was waiting outside the door of ARCO & had kept ready brochures & books on Prague for our reference. We booked half a day walking tour with him & my children found it most interesting & informative. He also buys tickets for local travel for guests if required and is always at hand in the morning to guide you about your travels during the day. He pays equal attention to all guests. We loved our stay in Prague mainly because of all the guidance he gave us.

We stayed in Prague for only three days, but they were wonderful days. Gunter - an exceptional host: very friendly and hospitable. The room is excellent - spacious, but cozy. The area is quiet, but it is very close to transport hubs. And we were pleasantly surprised that the breakfast was also included in the price !!! I recommend everyone to stay in Prague at Gunther's ARCO! If the case is to visit Prague again, we will try to guest in ARCO.

We had a very pleasant living experience here! The room is large and decorated quite well. We lived there for 4 nights, and just felt like at home. Guenther is very nice and helpful. He gave us a lot of useful information about visiting Prague, and we like the music he played for us every morning during breakfast. Highly recommended!

For years, I was an evangelist on Europe's ICT industry and research. But my real passions are history, politics, arts, literature, music, languages and movies. I'm originally Austrian but moved to Prague in 2007. I love to live here, delve into the country's treasures, its arts, history, music etc. and let our guests share these experiences.

Since September 2015 I have had the chance to professionalise these passions by managing ARCO Guesthouse, a cosy little B&B in a quiet neighbourhood close to Prague's downtown with a strong cultural focus (Library, information, videos, walks etc.). I'd love to see you there!
