We had a blissful two-week stay at Bruno's studio. It is private, quiet, in a beautiful location and had everything we needed. We loved preparing meals in the outdoor kitchen with the view of the bay. The outdoors part of the studio is well set up and we frequently spent the middle of the day there comfortably in the shade but still outdoors. We did use the air-conditioning to take the heat off the bedroom area and were grateful for it. We paddled the kayaks (that come with the place!) over to Pinel Island several times (and once all the way to Orient Beach and then to Pinel, which was a bit of a sea adventure); and we hiked right out of our driveway along beautiful and empty beaches and up the hills above Anse Marcel. The two dogs were delightful companions and made our stay feel like home. They (and the cats) usually greeted us on our return and sent us off with a doggy escort when we left. The little beach in front is a wonderful place to sit at night and watch the moon rise behind the hill. Do not swim out from the beach if the jellyfish are in the little bay. Bruno and his wife were friendly, charming, inobtrusive yet available and helpful. Our vacation was perfect and we look forward to returning next year.

The studio was as described. When we initially arrived we were a little confused since no one greeted us and we weren't familiar with exactly which Studio we would be staying in. We knocked on Bruno's front door and a woman met us and showed us down to the studio. After about 15 minutes Bruno arrived and asked if we needed anything, and showed us how the air conditioning worked (thank goodness!). The location in the cul-de-sac is very quiet, but I would not necessarily say it is secluded. The studio next to us was occupied with a family and their children, and the house directly next to the Studio was under construction (hammering & some noises). This noise was not an issue for us, since we spent most of our time elsewhere on the island. There are Mosquitos, so bring some bug spray (we were prepared). Also, the downwind section of cul-de-sac smells very bad when the seaweed is blown in. Luckily we were staying upwind but you have to drive through that area and it can be pretty strong! The beach shown in the photos is man made, as the lagoon does not have a very active tidal or wave presence. You will definitely be beaching elsewhere, as this beach is mainly for barbecuing or enjoying the spa. I would not swim at this beach too much. Go to Anse Marcel or Orient Beach for your sun & fun. The Bouard family has two dogs and they were awesome, very well behaved. We enjoyed having the dogs around to greet us when we came back home. If you are renting a car, get one with plenty of ground clearance because the parking area near the studios is very steep at one point and you will scrape if you're too low or go too fast. Also I would not recommend anything bigger than a four door sedan. Twice during our stay we woke up to fresh towels, which was a welcome surprise, however we never received new beach towels. The refrigerator will need to be turned up when you get to the studio, as they appear to turn it down in order to save energy. The bed was comfortable for us and we slept well while there. We did run out of toilet paper on our last of 8 nights (we only started with one roll?) Overall, this is a good place if you want quick access to the major areas on the French side of the island. It takes quite some time to get anywhere on the Dutch side from here due to traffic in Grand Case and Marigot.

Response from Bruno:
Dear Courtny. i'm sorry about the confusion but as mentioned in the conditions the check-in is at 4pm but you came earlier that's why i was not here at your arrival. as soon you came, our housekeeper called me and i left my job to come and assist you in case of you needed anything. the toilet paper is not included but you are not the first one to mention that , then we will provide it, to satisfy our guest. hope to see you again when you come back to st martin. bruno

Bruno was very welcoming and easy going, everything was wonderful :) If we visit St. Martin again, we would stay in the studio again. The location was perfect and the area was beautiful.

We had a most excellent time in St Martin and Studio Pinel was perfect in every way. Bruno was a lovely host; always there when we needed him or had questions but unobtrusive in every other way. The two dogs and cat were a welcome bonus. The location is terrific, quiet and peaceful away from the hustle and bustle of the southern end of the island. A short kayak ride takes you over to Pinel Island which is idyllic; lovely beaches for sunbathing and swimming and two restaurants. We especially enjoyed our mornings sitting in our outside area, watching the birds and ocean. We would definitely go back to Studio Pinel!

Bruno's apartement is in an excellent location, which is just as described. The beach in front of the house and Pinel Island are wonderful. We took the canoo to get to the island, which is a 10 minute peddle. The studio itself is quite basic. We were unfortunate with 2 days of heavy rain and the studio is defintely more suited for outdoor living. Inside it is too small and basic to spend a lot of time there. The outside terrace and kitchen are nice. Bruno provides good extras: snorkel and flippers, beach towels, canoos, outdoor bbq and jacuzzi. We did not talk much with Bruno and his wilfe, but we did not ask for it either. They are friendly and accomodating.
