How close are we to local attractions:
Poipu Beach - We are on Poipu Beach!
Named America's Best Beach by The Travel Channel, ranking top among the 10 "best" beaches selected nationwide. This beach is a series of golden sand crescents, strung together where beach-goers will find snorkeling, swimming, a natural ocean wading pool, boogie-boarding and surfing.

Waimea Canyon – 30 miles / 55 minutes drive - See location
Waimea Canyon is the largest canyon in the Pacific and truly a dramatic sight to behold. The canyon measures 10 miles long, 1 mile wide, and more than 3,500-feet deep. It was carved thousands of years ago by rivers and floods that flowed from Mount Waialeale's (website hidden)'Pali Coast - 37 miles / 1 hour, 7 mins - See location
Kauai’s famous coastline is truly majestic, featuring emerald green pinnacles towering along the shoreline for 17-miles. Located on the North Shore of Kauai, the Napali Coast features panoramic views of the vast Pacific Ocean, velvet green cliffs and cascading waterfalls plummeting into deep, narrow valleys.

Hanalei Bay - 45 miles / 1 hour, 16 mins - See location
At two miles (3.2 km) long, Hanalei Bay is the largest bay on Kauai and considered one of the best beaches in all of Hawaii. Hanalei means “lei-shaped bay” in Hawaiian and nothing fits the bay’s shape more perfectly than this description. It is a long half moon of golden sand.

Nawiliwili Bay - 15 miles / 31 mins - See location
Nawiliwili is really the name of the harbor rather than the name of a town. The port lies outside of Lihue, the main town on Kauai. While the port resides in Nawiliwili Bay, so does the excellent Kalapaki Beach.

Kalalau Trail - 51 miles / 1 hour, 28 mins - See location
The Kalalau Trail provides the only land access to this part of the Na Pali Coast rugged coast. The trail traverses 5 valleys before ending at Kalalau Beach where it is blocked by sheer, fluted pali.

Kokee State Park - 35 miles / 1 hour, 8 mins - See location
North of Waimea Canyon on Kauai’s West Side is Kokee State Park. Spread over 4,345 acres on a plateau (phone number hidden) feet above sea level, Kokee State Park is covered in forest, wild flowers and hiking trails making it an excellent spot to see native plants and colorful endemic Hawaiian forest biroads like the apapane, iwi and moa. The park also offers roughly 45 miles of the state's finest hiking trails. Some trails lead to views of Waimea Canyon, others wind through wet forests with sweeping views of valleys opening up to the North Shore.

Poipu Shores #301B was an amazing place to stay. The location right on the cliff overlooking the ocean is particularly special. The unit was very clean and comfortable. We would have liked some sharper knives--other than that, we very much enjoyed staying at Poipu Shores #301B.

We loved out stay at poipu shores! The view is truly magnificent with the wide open ocean and gorgeous crashing waves below you 24/7 and the pool was refreshing and there were always plenty of seats to enjoy the sun and shade. I wish the pool were open a little later at night (closes sunset) but overall it's close & accessible and great! Seeing the sea turtles up close every day and whales far off our balcony 3 days was amazing and the 10-15 min walk to the beach was easy and pretty. Bring water shoes for tide pool exploring on the way! The beach had a wonderful little cove with super calm water for the babies to play and we even saw a hawaiian seal who came up on the beach to sleep (they kept people safely far enough away while she was there). You can also snorkel right off of the beach a little ways down. It's a close drive to shopping and dining options at Poipu Shopping village (Keikos was delicious!) and maps makes it easy to find your way back. Only bummers were that the parking was kind of tight for maneuvering a large family vehicle and there was no A/C in the condo. The breezes do help at night but it can get quite humid late afternoon or in the mornings when moving around and it can feel HOT! (March 2017 stay). Management were very friendly and accommodating too. We loved our stay!

This place was amazing. We stayed here with my family for my moms birthday and the Location was perfect. The balcony is huge and I love having the ocean view. The pool is so nice and clean and private. The hosts are very nice and accommodating. Parking was easy and spacious and the location is great so you can walk to shops and the beach. We are also very green and liked having recycling on site. Kauai is the most beautiful place I've ever visited and you will not be disappointed if you stay here.

Everything was fine with the host. No issues there. It's just things with the unit itself.

The view is amazing! Sea turtles swim in the waves just outside and are a treat to watch from the balcony. In the kitchen you have to open the oven in order to open the dishwasher, but everything works. The master bed was very firm, but the bedroom facing the water was great. We enjoyed listening to the sound of the waves. We had a wonderful stay. Short and scenic walk to Poipu Beach park.

At Poipu Shores, it's not just possible, it's highly likely. These Kauai condo rentals are a dream come true, individually furnished with an island style all their own. Each and every one-, two-, and three-bedroom condo fronts the ocean within the legendary Poipu Beach resort area on Kauai's south shore. Poipu, Kauai was honored as a top destination in TripAdvisor's 2010 Travelers' Choice® Destination Awards. Kauai's South Shore was ranked number three in the "Top 10 Beach & Sun Destinations in the United States" category. Millions of travelers shared their opinions on TripAdvisor and chose Poipu as one of their favorite places.

Fully-equipped kitchens, washers and dryers, high-speed Internet connection, and a list of other amenities make life even easier at your Kauai accomodations. Find your lounge chair on the sun deck and watch the blue surf crash into black lava rock. Spy on turtles as they swim. Get wet yourself in a pool of fresh water. Take a walk along the sun-drenched stretch of white sand. Have cocktails and barbeque with friends. Instantly, in the warmth of the sun, your worries evaporate. And if you want some exercise, Poipu Beach Resort offers tennis, golf, mountain biking, and horseback riding right nearby. Afterward, explore nearby Poipu Shopping Village or historic Koloa Town for dozens of Kauai restaurant options from local favorites to fine dining.

Beyond your seaside retreat, Kauai begs to be explored, from its scenic and sacred sites to its jungles and beaches. Some of them are one in the same. Luckily, you are in a prime spot to experience it all. Take a scenic drive to the even more scenic Waimea Canyon, the "Grand Canyon of The Pacific." Picnic near the river at Wailua River State Park or under a monkeypod tree at The Keahua Forestry Arboretum. Poipu's nearly three miles of coastline is adorned with half-moon shaped sandy Kauai beaches, many with incredible views of the mountain ridge between Wailua and Kapaa, otherwise known as "Sleeping Giant." Swim and snorkel the calm waters of Hanalei Bay, at the base of sheer cliffs and rocky mountains. For more adventurous Kauai activities, take a helicopter tour up Hanalei Valley (yes, where Puff the Magic Dragon lives), past the wettest spot on earth to Kauai's highest waterfall, and on to the Napali Coast. Or brave one of Kauai's three navigable rivers by kayak. For a more mellow expedition, stroll the streets of Old Kapaa Town, a quaint little 19th-century plantation town lined with Kauai restaurants and shops. Hit historical sites like Poliahu Heiau, Bell Stone, and Holo-holo-ku Heiau. Wherever you go, the road always leads back to the ocean and a good night's sleep oceanfront at Poipu Shores.
