The space

The Rodriguez Guest House specializes in long-term, affordable, luxury accommodations. Most of our guests are international students, artist and medical residents who stay between 1-6 months. Guests live as roommates and tidy up after themselves. Guests have to take care of basic tasks like taking the trash to the outside bin when it is full. This allows us to keep our prices affordable. In the house, you will find a full chefs kitchen equipped with everything you need to cook and store meals.

Guest access

Private bedroom which is quietly nestled beneath the branches of a large tree. You will have a shared, full bathroom. This room has a queen sized bed. Feel free to join us in the beautiful lounge. Relax in the spacious, artistic living room or enjoy a cup of coffee in the dining room. Access to a full kitchen. You can even pull out a lawn chair and catch some sun in the garden. Each guest has a personal access code to get in the house and this bedroom has keyed entry.

It was great experience.

I spent 4 months in Fabricio and Emily's house to complete an internship at Temple university which was at less than 10 minutes walk. The house was great, with spacious living room, kitchen with all you would need, and the rooms and bathrooms were comfortable. Fabricio lives in DC, but he communicates well and keeps available for anything you would need during your stay. For that price, I would definitely recommend this place!

The room is priced reasonable low so I rated it high despite some minor drawbacks, yet I will leave my thoughts here for consideration. The location of the room allows for an easy access to Temple University, there are two supermarkets nearby and you can easily get to the south-north subway line, as there's a station in 5min walking distance. The neighborhood is quiet and seems safe, though I would probably discourage lone women and teenagers (and generally people... not merging well into background) from going for walks in the middle of night with a new, shiny smartphone in hand. Also, don't expect many nice views, though there are some nice murals here and there and some areas are perhaps a reminder of a greater past. Since I stayed here during the winter, the surrounding might be more positive during spring or summer. The house itself is nicely equipped with a kitchen that allows for at least moderate use (I mean cooking, not just making coffee), bathrooms on each floor and a basement where you can wash and dry your clothes. The room I've occupied had everything I needed - a lot of space to hang clothes, very comfortable bed, a table with a chair for some light laptop work and fast wifi connection. The shared bathroom is however adjacent to both rooms (connecting them) so you will hear when it's occupied whether you like it or not. The house is also quite noisy when the ventilation is working (e.g. when heating), so if you have trouble with sleeping in noisy environment, I'd highly recommend taking earplugs (anyway, this is what I always do while traveling). On the other hand, all rooms are on airbnb, so if only one or two is occupied at moment, there are chanced you'll get whole house for your own use :-) Fabricio - the host - responds quickly to emails and is very helpful, so you won't have any problems with communication with your host. You can also get some useful tips if you want. Overall I would recommend this offer, especially if your expectations aren't too high. You can trust the photos and description.

Fabricio is very responsible and willing to help! He always react very quickly and effectively! Very nice to communicate. The house is very close to the public transportation and supermarket. Very convenient! And also a good place to stay if you want to go to Temple University because you only need to take 10 minutes to there.

Fabricio and Emily were very friendly and kind, and they always cared about me. I really enjoyed staying with them for a month. My room was very comfortable, and the kitchen was well-equipped. I would definitely come back next time.

Fabricio's house is wonderful and has everything to make you feel like being in a home away from home. A fully equipped kitchen, a wonderful living room, nice posters from Fabricio's and Emily's lives. The room itself was clean and tidy. Whatever question or enquiry you may have both of them try their best to solve it. Although the area may seem a bit unsafe, I haven't felt at all unsafe during my one month there. Make sure you use the shared bike Philadelphia system during your stay there.

We are progressive activists and art lovers. This is is our home but we live in Washington DC most of the time. This 4 bedroom house is now the Rodriguez Guest House. We focus on providing affordable, long-term, luxury accommodations for foreign travelers, medical residents, grad students, student interns and artists on residency. The housemates live as respectful roommates, clean up after themselves in the common areas and handle basic tasks like taking out the trash. We provide "help-yourself" dish and laundry soap, towels and linens and paper products.
