I live in a very quite neighborhood in South East Austin, only 7 mins from downtown and 5 mins from the Austin airport.

15 mins or 10 miles from Elroy, where the new Formula 1 races will be held.

have an extra guest bedroom upstairs with a queen bed and a shared bathroom which is always very clean.

The first floor is dedicated to a living room and kitchen. The upstairs has three bedrooms and another living room. You are not far from the bus stop and close enough to downtown where you will not be spending a lot of money on cabs to get home. During our 4 nights here for Austin Psychfest, we felt much welcomed by John and Gary (Sorry if I remember your name wrong :D). It had been a pleasure staying here. John didn't make it for work the day I arrived because I didn't tell him about my delayed flight (I am so sorry). Still he showed me around the place and made sure I feel comfortable with everything there. Beverages and water were offered in the fridge. The private room we stayed in was clean and tidy. Had to share bathrooms with other tenants, but since we came back late every night from the festival there hadn't been any problem. Though we didn't talk much, Gary had been very kind and polite; I was waken by the smell of muffins he made one day morning. Too bad we didn't get to see John very often. Would love to come back here again.

FACTS. The 1st thing we wish you to do is to read the 3 previous host reviews about us (2 of them were monthly booking) Here follows 2 separate events that MUST be told for which the details will be given to airbnb.Firstly we must report the host John locked us out of the house on our 2nd night stay forcing us to sleep in our RV refusing to admit being stupid and not offering any type of compensation. Secondly, because the host John did not bother to verify or remember the property ordenance he signed with the house, we barely avoided our RV and trailer being towed away that would have been extensive costs to us. Need be host had said parking on street was ok in writing before booking. Contrary to listings upstairs has 4 bedrooms (not 3), 2 of which are rented on extended monthly stays and 2 are available for rent on Airbnb for 4 people. So be aware that up to 6 persons are sharing the same sole shower. Plus the 2 rooms available for rent are not quite since they face at the bakc of the house a huge noisy warehouse with tractor trailers coming in as early as 5 am with beep beep upon backing up. One morning we counted 7 such vehicules at the same time. This was made worst by the fact that the air conditioning was repaired only on the 12th day of our stay since each day upstairs temperature was above 80F. Because of this high temperature my husband use the kitchen table to make use of the wifi (temperature 1st floor much cooler) To his dismay the host, though 4 chairs were free at the table asked him to go back to his room and leave the table because he wanted to eat. For sure there was an argument. Believe or not the host said he did not write air conditioning was provided in the listing of Airbnb. Speaking of the kitchen upon arrival thst John explained that there are no special rules other than clean up. The 1st time I did cooking was salmon pie which is mixing 2 cans of salmon wix with cooked potatoes that we heat in oven for 20 minutes. As we were finishing eating the host arrived complaining we cooked fish, leaves open the front door of the house and completly opened the patio door ...making us feel right at home. On 2 occasions, upon getting up the son of the host was sleeping in the living room commun area at least we should have been given notice of this which made us feel uncomfortable to have our breakfast. (Though his son was very polite) Finally on NO occasion during our 13 day stay did we EVER see John smiling neither with us or even with the two other tenants. His social skills are limited to a mechanical: How are you doing?

Response from John:
Lucie was there a total of 3 nights. This review does not reflect her stay. The review sounds like it was written by rude and deceiving husband. He might have he fooled but not me. He is arrogant. I left a favorable review for Lucie because that's who I was asked to review. I did not lock the guest out of the house. After the first night he went opening doors and notice the other bedroom that was vacant. He decided that he wanted that bedroom instead of the other, something about his poor eye sight. He sent me an urgent e-mail saying that he needed to speak to me. When I called he insisted that I let him switch rooms. I went ahead and let him, even though I had a couple come and look at the other room and were going to get back with me. Unfortunately I lost a booking because of this. As far as the parking goes, he failed to mention that his travel tailor along another tailor which he was pulling was the size of a simi truck. He also ask if he could use my garage for storing a motorcycle, I said sure, even though it isn't part of the rental. I cleared a corner for his cycle. When I returned the next day there was a cycle the size of a Volkswagen beetle in my garage. When I showed them the kitchen at the start of their stay they were told that the kitchen was for eating and was a common area. Well every day he was there for hours with all his stuff spread out on the kitchen table. They were also given fridge space, he decided he wanted freezer space and door shelf space as well. I also showed him pantry space, gave him a choice of the pantry closet or a cabinet He took both. That night that he says that I locked them out is the night that he insisted on switching rooms, which he wanted to do right away and couldn't wait for me to come home because he was going to the Rodeo and would be home late. For some reason he decided that he should leave his house key with the room key. Unfortunately no one heard the door bell ringing at whatever time he came back, so he was forced to sleep in his giant RV. Did I lock him out as he says? The next morning as I was going to work I find a nasty note on the windshield of my car in all caps that said "YOU MUST LEAVE ME A KEY". When I returned from work he had no excuse for leaving his house key behind and blamed me for not answering the door, asking me "WHAT DO YOU THINK NOT LEAVING ME A KEY, DO YOU THINK I SHIT KEYS?" I have never had a problem with guest like this. This man is very rude. I feel sorry for his wife, she is such a nice lady. No wonder the booking was in her name. Did I mention that he haggled so that I would lower my rate, then he expects all this. Go ahead and rent to him if you want someone to move in and make themselves at home, expect to lower the rate and still give him all he wants. I have dealt with the HOA before and the problem with the parking would have been resolved but he decided he should handled this himself instead of letting me handle it. As a matter of fact the HOA called and said it would have been ok for the 2 days that he had left, but by this time he had pick up his toys and went to play somewhere else. Mr. Bert you are not welcomed at my house anymore. Its no wonder that I didn't smile after our first meeting, what with the complaints from the two other guest and my experience. I read your reviews from your previous host, and I am sure they were for Ms. Lucie. Read my reviews.

John was very welcoming to us for our trip, providing water, a nice room, TV and wifi. John helped give us the lay of the land in what areas would have the most traffic and helped provide us with a care free experience in Austin.
