The Old Tea Hut is halfway down a footpath leading to the beach. It was originally built in the 1920's, and has been modernised over time. It still retains lots of quirky character and is in an amazing position with fabulous views over Whitsand bay and 2 minutes walk from a beautiful beach.. its a magical place in the summer and dramatic and wild in the winter. There is an open fire, and a conservatory so that even on chilly days you can enjoy the landscape.

The space

The Old Tea Hut is a quirky mix of old and new. It is a real home, used by ourselves, our children and growing brood of grandchildren. It is not ultra chic or smart, rather it has evolved as a place we really love and are happy to share with like minded people.

The accommodation is all on one level and you can be flexible about how you use it. There are three double bedrooms, one with an open fireplace which can either be used as a bedroom or a sitting room, depending on how many you are and how you want to use the space. There is a further living area with dining room table, a cast iron stove (electric) and a comfortable corner sofa bed., so we can in fact accommodate 8 people. There is a small conservatory off this space and a door out to the garden. This is partly walled and fenced and enjoys sunshine all day and amazing views.

Guest access

The Old Tea Hut is quite big and we keep a part of it for ourselves. This adjoins the part we let, and is separated by heavy victorian pine double doors. Both parts are self contained, and have their own gardens. We are not always there as we travel a lot and we also have a small cottage at St Cross, just outside Winchester (also on air bnb) where we spend some of our time. The letting part of the property is self contained with kitchen, shower room, 3 bedrooms (one with an open fire which can become a cosy winter sitting room) living/dining room, conservatory, garden. Washing machine in outside shed, shared with us when we are there.

Interaction with guests

When we are there we will welcome you and help you find the nice things to do in the area. However there are also comprehensive notes, maps and guidebooks which will help you find your way around, and we are always at the end of a phone or email if you have any problems.

Other things to note

There are substantial Victorian pine double doors which separate the part of the property we let from the part we use ourselves. These are not completely soundproof, so we will be aware of each other presence. We have never found this to be a problem and neither have any of our guests, but it is something we'd prefer you to be aware of before you come. We never let anyone other than family use the part of the property we keep for ourselves and the bedrooms of both parts of the house are not adjoining so there is no risk of being disturbed at night

A very special place. Cute and cosy with everything you'll need and a view that is out of this world. The beach is stunning and Rosie is the perfect host. Can't wait to go back.

The Old Tea Hut is a fantastic place to stay - with amazing views over Whitsand Bay. It is very comfortably furnished with plenty of space for the family to snuggle up in rugs and read books in wet weather and then 5mins walk down to the beach when the sun comes out (10mins walking back up!). Note the beach is tidally restricted so bring some tide tables to know when the beach is exposed - at low tide you can walk along to Tregonhawke or further. We all loved the chalet, it is a very cosy and comfortable place to stay and the kitchen is spacious (compared to other chalets) and very well equipped to eat at home. We also loved the conservatory at the front of the chalet (a nice warm place for a snooze) and the garden with tables and bench out front.

This cottage was just was what we hoped for. The views are amazing and the proximity to the beach was just what our family needed. Our kids were all able to make the hike down to the water. The house was comfortable and big enough for all 6 of us to relax. I would come back here again for sure.

Rosie's 'the old tea hut' was a fantastic place to stay. Perfect for what myself, girlfriend and my two labs were looking for. An extremely cool place, quiet, relaxing, very well equipped, comfy, view out of this world! Quiet dog friendly beach on the doorstep, garden to enjoy breakfast and a snug to enjoy dinner looking out to sea. Rosie is a lovely host that offered tips if needed but left us to it. Can't wait to visit the area again and hopefully stay at the old tea hut if lucky enough to be available. Thanks again Rosie

This is a fabulous place to stay in, and very cosy in the wind and rain! Deceptively large with plenty of space for 4 adults and to fit another 6 over for an indoor picnic when the rain came down! Beautiful part of the world and a very welcoming, helpful and responsive host. Thoroughly recommend it

We loved every minute of our stay at this beautiful spot and never tired of the big skies, sound of the waves and cosy evenings when the sun went down. Rosie was a lovely host, the Tea Hut is a true one off and we just didn't want to leave!

Magical spot! We loved our stay here! The hut is very comfortable and warm with incredible views and an easy walk down to a gorgeous beach. Rosie was there to greet us (despite us arriving in the evening in the dark) and was very helpful with where to go and what to do. Would love to go back and can't recommend enough.

I am an Alexander Technique teacher, a mother and a grandmother. I love living by the sea and feel incredibly lucky to be able to spend a good deal of my time on a beautiful wild Cornish cliffside above a very lovely sandy beach. I like meeting people and really enjoy the var…
