Description

The space

IMPORTANT: when using Instant Booking please be mindful that we can not accommodate check-in past 10pm.

This unit is in a four unit complex, two on the bottom and two on the top. This unit is on the top. Its high ceiling and numerous windows bring in abundant natural light making the home feel light and airy. The living room has a bay window giving the room a cozy feel.

I've owned this complex since 1999 years. I'm very choosy as to who I select as tenants so they are excellent tenants, courteous and quiet.

Guest access

Enjoy charming backyard with lush greenery. The tenant below is one of the managers who maintained the grounds and gardens. He has quite a green thumb and passion for gardening. You're welcome to enjoy the beauty of his labor of love.

Interaction with guests

I do not live in the unit or in the complex. You will have complete access to the whole apartment, privacy and freedom to make yourself at home. But I've arranged it so that there's assistance should you need it.

On site assistance - the tenants below in unit #4, James Thomassen and Lynda Burgess, are the onsite property managers/contacts. They are friendly, considerate and helpful. They maintain the home by cleaning and restocking after each stay. Feel free to reach out to them should you need assistance about the home itself or where items are kept. Otherwise, you will be left alone to enjoy your stay. James' cell phone is . Lynda's cell is .

If there are questions or matters that you'd like to contact me directly, feel free to call me .

The neighbourhood

Home is on a tree-lined street with mostly small, charming well loved homes and well-maintained multi-unit apartment buildings.

Walk to dining and quaint businesses - including multiple coffee shops, Chipotle, sushi restaurants, Schurra's Chocolate Shop, Subway, pizza, many locally owned restaurants serving various kinds of ethnic foods, Whole Foods, and CVS Pharmacy.

IMPORTANT: There's reserved parking for your unit for one car in the back of the building; the 2nd stall from the left, marked by the number 2.

Parking on the street requires permit. Please do not park on the street. Parking patrol is vigilant about giving parking ticket. Fine is $61. Guest is responsible for any parking violation.

There's free parking that does not require permit on the cross street called The Alameda. It's 1/2 a block north of the home.

I had the pleasure of saying at Leanne's place for two nights. It was so lovely and really convenient to the Tech Museum where I was working. Cute place and the bed was extremely comfortable. I would definitely stay at her place again.

Great location, located in a quiet area within walking distance to restaurants and a train station. Very very spacious, well-stocked, and can accommodate multiple people comfortably. The host and the on-site management were easy to get a hold of and very responsive.

Clean, well maintained, quiet neighborhood. Close and walk-able to shops and a variety of restaurants. Easy access to major highways. The host and the on-site management are very accommodating and accessible. They both made sure we had whatever we needed to make our stay pleasurable.

Leanna's house is very nice -- clean, spacious and in a good neighborhood close to downtown. Leanna was extremely responsive and went out of her way to make my stay the best it could be. The only challenge was that I stayed during an unusually cold period in SJ and the space heater and wall heater didn't keep the place as warm as I would have liked. It is an old house with charm so that would be expected. Leanna did her very best to make it comfortable in spite of these small challenges. I would stay here again.

Response from Leanna:
Thank you for letting me know about the heating issue. I haven't lived in this home so I rely on guests to inform me of matters that need my attention. Because of your feedback I've taken significant action to remedy the cold. I've replaced the insulation in the attic and the furnace going to be looked at. Just an interesting bit of information. The guest who checked in the day you checked out was from Colorado. I made sure she knew how to operate the heating systems and that she was warm enough (given that it was probably the coldest week of 2016). She said it was no problem for her because she's from snowy Colorado. It was quite nice weather to her. I guest it's all relative :-).

I met Leanna and she is a very nice and attentive host. She and her crew have done a lot of work on the house and it looks great! Nice bay windows in the living room with great afternoon sun and very nicely decorated. The location was ideal, with a coffee shop, Whole Foods and other concessions within walking distance. Every modern amenity was provided, great cookware and dishware, although the cutlery wasn't the greatest. Still useable but for me sharp knives are a must. Definitely not a deal breaker. If there was any downside it would be the faint and occasional wafts of smoke from the basement apartment. It wasn't strong upstairs but if anyone is especially sensitive it could be an issue. Otherwise, this is a gem!

Thank you Jennifer for the honest, constructive feedback. I will sharpen the knives or get new ones. I will find remedy for the smoke as well.
