Stunning suite in contemporary home in tiny hamlet of Fairstead near Chelmsford. Bedroom (king), ensuite bathroom & own sitting room. A taste of rural living with all modern conveniences.
A stunning countryside setting with easy access to major towns (Chelmsford, Witham and Braintree) located in a very quiet lane, off the beaten track.
We offer a renovated ground floor suite in a 400 year old Essex farmhouse, now a contemporary rural home with all the usual 'mod cons' including good Wifi.
The suite consists of a double bedroom with a king sized bed, ensuite bathroom and large sitting room. It has garden views, tea and coffee making facilities and a small 'fridge with fresh milk (but please note no kitchen). Included is a simple continental breakfast (juice, tea/coffee, cereals, toast) in our breakfast room overlooking arable farmland (see photos). Please note we do NOT charge extra for cleaning which some hosts do. We do provide a basic a daily room 'clean' (emptying bins, making the bed, clean the bathroom). Fresh towels on request.
There is plenty of off-road parking and we are able to offer secure bike storage.
The venue suits those who love the countryside, seeking a peaceful and quiet stay with all the usual luxuries: complimentary luxury bathroom toiletries, large soft towels, TV/Freeview, Wii and Playstation games consoles, DVD player (with a large choice of DVDs to borrow), hairdryer and an iron/ironing board.
We have the award winning 'Square & Compasses' gastro pub very close by, in Fuller Street, where most guests choose to have dinner (booking essential) and other pubs and restaurants within a 10 minute drive, but if you prefer a take-away then we are happy to loan plates, cutlery, etc (and do your washing up for you!).
An idyllic location and a warm welcome awaits you.
Guests have their own suite of rooms with independent access via the rear garden. You are welcome to use the garden for relaxation. We have plenty of shady spots for a snooze in a hammock under the old apple trees or for the sun lovers our south facing garden is a secluded and private spot to enjoy the peace. We have plenty of parking spaces.
You are welcome to join us in the kitchen/breakfast room in the mornings for breakfast and if you need help or even just for a chat at any other time, but please note that if we are not at home then the main part of the house will not be accessible to guests.
Interaction with guests
We interact with our guests as much or as little as the guests wish, but we will always be here to greet you on arrival and to show you around. We work from home much of the time so are usually on hand to help.
Other things to note
Bookings are for a minimum of TWO nights. We regret that the property is not suitable for children.
If there are any particular cereals or juice you'd like us to order in for you - please just ask (but give us a bit of notice!). We will happily cater for special dietary requirements - all you have to do is ask at the time of booking.
*** We are often asked if we will consider a discount for 'longer stays'. We are happy to consider this, but please note we do keep the basic nightly price to an absolute minimum and subsequently there is not much wriggle room! 'Longer stays' would constitute stays of more than a week in duration. We may also consider a small reduction in the nightly price if stays are for more than 5 consecutive nights and for the suite only i.e. no breakfast. Please discuss with us before making a reservation by using the Airbnb messaging system. ***
We'd just like you to really enjoy your stay with us and feel that you can ask for anything which will make your stay more enjoyable.
No smoking in the house and preferably no outdoor shoes inside please. Definitely no muddy shoes inside thank you! You are welcome to smoke in the garden but not in the house. Sadly we cannot accept pets.
We are happy to share our home with guests and hope you will love it as much as we do. Jayne works from home, part time, and Tim runs his own furniture retail business. Jayne loves her garden, her dog and her hens. We are both keen skiers and love sailing on the Essex coast.
