About this listing
This property is located in South Estonia, next to Soontaga Nature reserve. It's surrounded with amazing forests and lakes and it's just a short trip to Otepää, Võrtsjärv, Tartu and Latvia. You'll have the whole complex to yourself! Enjoy the peace and quiet, go for forest walks, swim in the nearby lakes or just relax on the outside terrace. There's a fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms, a livingroom, and a bathroom. Also a freshly renovated sauna, toilet and shower room in a separate building.
There are 2 houses on the property, the main house (green) where you'll be staying at and sauna house (brown) where it's possible to use the sauna and another shower and toilet if you like. It's a cozy farmhouse, built in the 60s. the main house is spacious with lots of natural light and views to the garden and surrounding forest. Interior is simple with personal touch. The house has everything you might need including fully equipped kitchen, a washing machine, clean bed sheets, towels and so on. There's a TV but with only a few local channels and there's no wifi so you can properly switch off and enjoy the nature instead.
You're welcome to use almost all of the house. There's an old dry toilet in the house, next to the entrance on your left. We ask you not to open that door as we are using the front of it as storage.
Interaction with guests
Most likely we can hand you over the keys and show you around. If you have questions you can call or in case of anything urgent my sister lives 10km away. If we can't be there on your arrival we give you enough extra information about the place.
You'll be staying literally a few steps from a nature reserve (about which you'll find more information in the house). It's special cause of the different forest types it includes, especially amazing is the pine forest (oldest pines are around 300 years old). Also there are birds like western capercaillie and animals like lynx, moose and beaver. The nearest human-neighbours are about 200m away but not visible from the house. If forest walks, skiing, swimming in lakes, blueberry picking and birdwatching is not really your thing then the nearest town is 10km away (you'll find stores and cafe's, tourist information and couple of bars there), in Helme there are caves, old castle ruins and some legends to explore. Latvian border is about 25km away in Valga. Note that Valga is a town literally split in two (Valga is Estonian side and Valka Latvian side) so you might not even notice when you cross the border. Other places to see are the "winter capital" Otepää, Sangaste castle, Barclay de Tolly mausoleum etc.
The best way to get there is with a car or with bicycle. Nearest train station is 12km away in Puka. Park anywhere near the house. The house is located just off Võru-Kuigatsi-Tõrva road, so it's very easy to access.
We expect you to treat the place the way you would like your home to be treated. That should be simple enough rule to follow (so no need to list all the things you shouldn't smash)

I'm an Estonian girl and he is an Icelandic/Austrlian guy. We're currently living in Estonia but previously lived in Australia and New Zealand. We've got quite a lot of travel experience and know what it's like, so trying to offer our visitors the best. From backpackers to beach bungalows, from the worst kind to the best experiences, we've seen our share of it. Now finally back home, we've got our own little paradise in South Estonia and would like to share it with some other travelers. We like so spend warm summer days outside at the country place, having a BBQ with friends or family. We also like renovating, designing, arts and most of all travelling. Our country place is cute old house perfect for anybody looking for a private relaxing escape. It's nothing fancy but it's got lots of room, has got all the essentials and it's set in a beautiful natural environment.
