The space

Our house is large, active, and very homey. During your stay, enjoy access to the downtown core, while residing on a quiet street. We have a fully equipped (and super retro!) kitchen with lots of fun small appliances, laundry machines in the basement, and dark hardwood floors throughout the house. Your room is on the first floor and ours is on the second, so your nights will be very private. You will also have access to your own bathroom so feel free to set up camp and leave your things where they will be most useful to you.

Need coffee to function in the morning? Don't worry, we've got you covered with an excellent espresso machine.

We also have a Cockapoo named Cricket, a grey tabby named Oscar, and a visitor kitty named ET. Animal lovers, this place is for you!

With an infant son and all the animals, we have an active family home. As our guest, we appreciate that you understand that sometimes we have to deal with unpredictable little creatures (animals, excluded!). Your nights will still be quiet, however, since the soundproofing between your room and ours is pretty great!

We hope you enjoy your stay!

Guest access

Feel free to make use of our entire first floor! We are more than happy to share our living and dining spaces with you. We hope that you make use of the kitchen as you need, and are happy to answer any questions you have about our home or the city.

Interaction with guests

We love interacting with our guests, and cannot wait to meet you! We also understand that everyone needs their privacy and space, and our schedules are flexible to allow for pleasant interactions, but also time to yourself. Our house is set up in such a way that we can co-exist in the same house without feeling overcrowded.

The neighbourhood

Our neighborhood is urban, safe, and quiet. We love that we are located near parks, a short 15 minute walk to the river, and easy access to the downtown core!

Getting around

We are a 15-20 minute walk to the downtown core, as well as the main bus terminal downtown that runs all over the city, including East Lansing. Lansing has both Lyft and Uber as options for transportation if you need a ride somewhere.

Other things to note

If your stay happens to include a Thursday morning, please be aware that this is when we have a cleaning person come clean our home, so Thursday mornings can be a little noisy - but very clean!

And in case we haven't said it enough, we would like to stress that we have pets and a baby! Our son is a happy little guy, but being a baby is hard and sometimes he can be a little grumpy in those early am hours. The animals are friendly and social, and because of this, they will want to say hi to you. We keep allergy meds on hand if you need them, but we hope you love animals as much as we do if you chose to stay with us!

Had a lovely time staying with Jessica and John and their adorable baby boy. Comfy bed and room, great conversation, and abundant coffee from their espresso machine! Overall a fun and cozy stay, would very much recommend.

Jessica was very responsive in her communication and the place was as described. The bed is very comfortable and their pets were a friendly addition that added to the experience. We were in town for a party at the Lansing Brewing Company and chose this location because it was within walking distance. Staying as a guest in someone's home (while they are there) was a new experience for us and based on this experience we would consider it again in the future.

Great location to hop the bus going downtown and be there in minutes. Very comfortable bed. And Jessica is among the warmest and friendliest hosts I've met and I've met quite a few. She's exceptional. And her dog and cat were both fun. And, I can't leave this out, an absolutely adorable little one.

This is an amazing place to stay! Jessica was incredibly kind and welcoming. She was very accommodating for my late check in. Location is great, very close to downtown Lansing and only 15 minutes away from MSU. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area!

Jessica's home and family was sublime! She was very accommodating to our late arrival. Her home was very clean and comfortable! She is a very lively young woman and we very much enjoyed visiting with her, her pets and her young baby George! Jessica also made me the most wonderful latte each morning! Her home is very highly recommended!

This is a pleasant and very reasonably priced accommodation for folks traveling to Lansing for a conference or a meeting. The exterior of the home is unassuming, but the interior is quite lovely. The room is small, but comfortable (maybe not for two though). The private bathroom is a plus. Jessica is a gracious host and her dinner suggestions for the Old Town section of Lansing were very helpful. Our conversations were very interesting since she and her husband recently moved from Canada to Lansing. Note: Lansing rolls up its sidewalks by 9 pm even on a Saturday, so it is better to head out for an early dinner. I arrived at the restaurant MEAT at around 7pm and they had already run out of all but two of their main entrees. When I left at 8 pm, they were already closing. I asked my waitress about this and she explained that they close when they run out of food, but they usually stay open all the way to 9 pm!

Jessica User ProfileJessica is a superhost.

John is a doctoral student, and I am a stay-at-home mom with our baby boy. We love reading, cooking, traveling, and especially being home with our pets! We equally enjoy both intense discussions and silly tv shows, because balance is important.
