Micheal had his quirks, but ultimately it was a pleasant stay. Explored much of the city until dawn and no problem coming and going.

Michael is a very personable host, and I highly recommend a friendly, no frills stay at his home. Neighborhood is quiet and very accessible to the downtown scene. Appreciated the private, off street parking making for a five minute car ride into the heart of the action. Definitely appreciated the proximity to A&J King artisan bakery, which came recommend by Michael, and with good reason! Made for an absolutely delightful breakfast spot in the morning, just a short walk away. Also just at the end of the street is Proctor's Ledge, which is perhaps the most important, chilling piece of Salem's history -- and one you don't have to pay the price of admission to honor & experience. Do stop to pay respects and ponder humanity at the memorial if you're not looking to do all of the "touristy" things. Michael has a delightful brood of rescue animals, all of which are very quiet and doing their own thing. If you're not an animal lover, no worries here. His terriers are well-trained and not jumpy or barky, but welcome human affection if you want to give them some love. Heidi, an outdoor cat won my heart and his little caged guinea pigs were fun to visit with. So nice to walk into a happy home of critters, but you wouldn't even know they were there if you weren't introduced. The room is large and light filled, bed was firm in the best, comfiest way. A welcome thing after a long day of driving and hiking. Refrigerator and microwave in the room was a nice touch. After chatting with Michael about the rich history of Salem, I was off to bed early and out like a light immediately, sleeping through the night without disturbance. I woke in the morning feeling so well-rested (and refreshed after a warm shower in the shared bathroom -- no issues to speak of there) and thankful for the experience of staying with Michael. Would absolutely recommend!

Michael's house is very tidy and comfortable. The room is comfortable and has all the mod-cons. Michael was also kind enough to let me use his laundry facilities which was helpful. It was an enjoyable stay.

Michael is pleasant and well-informed about activities, restaurants, and the history of the area. He has several pets which are cute and quite stinky, though the room was clean and didn't have an odor. The house is about a mile from the center of Salem. The bed was comfy but the pillows are hard, so bring your own if you prefer soft. Definitely a reasonable price.

Spacious room and within walking distance to the downtown area. Also, the new witch memorial is at the end of the block.
