Original Features Meet Modern Conveniences

Situated in the heart of the Loire Valley, our 3-bedroom gite has undergone 3 years of transformation since we bought it in 2012. Once a rundown ruin, it’s now a cozy and comfortable home that combines original charm and character with modern conveniences.

When you walk through the front door you’ll immediately notice the restored inglenook fireplace, log burner and original oak beams. But you’ll also notice modern soft furnishings and a 32-inch LCD television. Picture yourself the next morning, lounging on the large sofa, sipping coffee in front of the warm fire!

For those who like to remain plugged into the world, we have free high speed Wi-Fi and a television equipped with UK FREESAT and DVD player.

The large and airy kitchen is equipped with range cooker, dishwasher, microwave and all the cookware you could need. There is also an oak dining room table that comfortably seats 6 people. As one of our past guests said:

“I adored the huge kitchen dining room. The cooker is just fabulous. We happily bought local produce and cooked most evenings - the facilities were so good.”

We also have a peach tree in the garden and you’re welcome to help yourself, when in season. And, a short walk away, are acres of apple orchards. You can’t help yourselves to those, but we’ll tell you where to buy them!

In fact, we’ll answer any questions you have about the local area, from the best wine tours to the local family restaurants. My parents, John and Cynthia, live locally and are available during your stay should you need anything.

Bedroom and Bathroom Configuration

Our gite has three bedrooms, one downstairs, and two upstairs.

Bedroom one is located on the ground floor, with king bed, oak furniture and an en-suite bathroom containing a rain / massage shower, toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail.

Bedroom two is located on the first floor, with a king bed and plenty of storage. It benefits from being a dual aspect room, with original oak beams, stretching from the front of the house to the back.

Bedroom three, located across the sunlit hallway, has two single beds, and original oak beams.

Both the second and third bedrooms have a juliet balcony, adding to the character of the gite, and provide views over the church, village allotments, and surrounding countryside.

The upstairs bathroom has a rain / massage shower, toilet, hand basin and heated towel rail.

The Outside Space

Outside is a private courtyard and garden, including our very own peach tree, which you’re free to pick from! On sunny days the garden is bathed in sunlight throughout the day, with the patio offering some welcome shade in the afternoon. You’ll also find a BBQ, complete with utensils, fuel and matches.

Guest access
Along with the garden, the gite is for the exclusive use of our guests.

Other things to note
We recommend you visit our friends Darren & Louise who run an excellent cafe in Parcay Les Pins - a few miles from the gite - always available for help and advise.

There is free WiFi in the house and UK FREESAT as well as a DVD player.

To help our guests in keeping costs down, all electricity / linen / towels are included, as well as an initial supply of logs for the log burner.

We also supply a clean set of towels & linen for those of you wanting to stay for 2 weeks or more.

La Pellerine, Pays de la Loire, France

Beyond La Pellerine

We are ideally located in the heart of the Loire Valley, just 28 miles from Tours, and 20 miles from Saumur. Whether you’re here for a wine tour, to visit the historic chateaux, or simply to enjoy the French countryside, this area has it all!

The town of Noyant is five miles down the road and has a large supermarket for all your shopping needs, numerous bakeries, as well as a market on a Friday.

Towns like Chinon with its chateau are a comfortable drive away. A highlight of any visit to this part of France is a day trip to Puy du Fou - a very French version of a theme park - but with Romans / Vikings - amazing shows - well worth the drive.

It is about two hours from Paris Orly, three hours from the major ports of Caen / St. Malo / Le Havre and six hours from the Eurotunnel. Do ask us about our Brittany Ferry discount if travelling from Portsmouth to France by ferry.

My name is Mark and I live near Southampton, with my wife Suzanne. We love to travel - having visited Australia, New Zealand, the USA, the Caribbean and most of Europe in the last few years. Our favourite two countries and France and Italy, both for the beauty of the countryside, as well as the friendliness of the people. Amazing architecture, fantastic food & wine, lovely rural countryside, as well as bustling cities, such as Rome & Paris - what is there not to like. We loved the Loire Valley so much that we bought a very run down gite there a few years ago - we have spent many hours and months doing the gite up to a high standard, so that our guests could enjoy the Loire Valley just like we do, but in comfortable surroundings.

During your stay
I live in England, but know a lot about the Loire Valley, so am always happy to answer questions that guests may have - for example, are you interested in doing a wine tour - I can recommend local companies who will take you round the many wineries, as well as how you could do it yourself. I love research, so always happy to answer any question about the area.

My parents have lived in the area for the last ten years, so they are a wealth of information. Always keen to answer any questions you may have while staying at our gite. But my parents & I respect your privacy, so will give advise if requested, otherwise we let you enjoy our gite and the Loire Valley.
