Hale Ikena Kai is a traditional island home that boasts sweeping views of Waikiki. This neighborly location is up in the heights where you're close to Waikiki and far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki! Relax in the Lanai and take in the views. Experience Hawaii like a Local!

The space

Aloha! Welcome to Hale Ikena Kai or House with the Ocean View.
We named it this because the main focal point of the home is - the view!

From the kitchen, living room, den and lanai, you have sweeping views of the Ocean and all of Downtown Waikiki. Our home is a duplex with the main view home being upstairs. There are private, separate entrances to the home.

Hale Ikena Kai is the upstairs view home. It is decorated in a light and airy modern island style, incorporating some of the local artists’ work throughout. The master bedroom has a queen bed, large closet, dresser and a window AC unit. The guest bedroom has two twin beds and a closet. There’s also a den that has a full-sized futon that pulls out and sleeps (2). Our home has one bathroom with a shower only. There is no bathtub.

The kitchen has two windows - one overlooking the plumeria tree & one with an ocean view. The kitchen also boasts a brand new stove, fridge and microwave. Sorry, there is no dishwasher but the window over the sink looks out to the blooming plumeria tree!

The best part of Hale Ikena Kai is - you guessed it - the lanai! The views are simply stunning especially early morning and sunset. It has a two comfy padded chairs and a large table for dining with bench and chair seating. (Comfortably fits 8.) This is where you will probably spend most of your time relaxing, reading a book, enjoying a cocktail, or watch Fireworks go off every Friday night at the Hilton Hawaiian!

Also, depending on what time of year you come- there's fresh mango and avocados from the trees in the yard! Though the months often fluctuate, we've found that July, August & into September, they tend to be the most ripe.

Guest access

We use a Keyless Coded Entry for added security and convenience.

Interaction with guests

The house has separate entrances for the Main House (Hale Ikena Kai) and a separate lower rental unit. Scott is our friendly full time resident in the lower unit who works in the entertainment industry. He is also our caretaker of the home in the event of emergencies.

Other things to note

Please remember you are in a residential neighborhood. It's very friendly and we just ask that everyone be courteous of your neighbor downstairs and the neighborhood. NO LOUD NOISES AT NIGHT.

In consideration of our full time resident and neighbors, we require copies of government issued IDs from all of our guests prior to check in via email through AirBnB.

Great home for visiting families. Far enough away from the Honolulu traffic while still being conveniently located near shopping and other attractions. Amazing views of Waikiki.

It was a great house. It has enough space for my family. Recommend for more than 4 people. Great veiw from the lanai , which we liked most. It's not near the waikiki beach. But not a problem if you lent a car ( about 10~15 minutes by car) Bruce and Dominique are super kind and thoughtful. We definitely wanna stay there again.

We absolutely loved staying at Bruce & Dominique's place! The family was in town for a family reunion and didn't want to stay right in Waikiki but also did not want to stay somewhere over the Pali. St Louis Heights was the perfect solution! We had 5 adults and one infant. It was cozy, but the lanai more than made up for it (even having to share one bathroom!) Another perk is parking. There was one spot provided and street parking available. We knew we would have two cars and parking downtown us almost impossible to find. We also contacted Bruce and Dominique a few times for various things (question about parking, the garbage dispisal, etc) andBruce responded almost immediately. We even got to meet the very nice downstairs tenant. We would absolutely recommend this airbnb and hope to stay here again someday.

Bruce and Dominique's place is a rare gem. We are locals and had family stay there for a week. They loved it, particularly the yard, hens, view, layout of the house, comfort level, tasteful decoration (no kitschy knick-nacks) and the attentiveness of the owners to issues. The house is cool and airy (during a standard hot week here) and was a welcome retreat from the bustle. Highly recommended.

Bruce and Dominique's place was wonderful! Check in was smooth and they were always prompt and friendly with answers to my questions. We ate a few meals out on the lanai and the view can't be beat. Location is great for driving to Waikiki and near to everything you could need. We'd definitely stay again.

We are avid travelers and have traveled all over the world. We still come back to Hawaii as being our favorite place in the world! There is nothing like the weather, surf, and most of all, Aloha of Hawaii.
