Lovely cottage located in the valley of the Meuse river in the Ardennes where nature and culture meet! New: WIFI in the cottage and bed linen and towels are provided for free. This 1-bedroom cottage for 4 persons is located 8 kms from Dinant in a beautiful park.

The space

This 1-bedroom (and sofa bed in the living room) cottage is located 8 kms from Dinant and 12 kms from Givet, in the holiday resort of Waulsort. Waulsort is a very charmful medieval village. We are there, on the top of a high hill, in the middle of trees, in a green and natural setting, from the terrace you can admire a scenic view over the valley of the river Meuse. Not far from the cottage, maybe will you climb the very famous rock of Freyr. In front of it, along the river, the beautiful Renaissance castle (16th cent.) can be visited, the gardens with their orange trees from the 17th century is remarkable... by the way the king Louis XIV drank his first cup of coffee in that castle... see we don’t only have beers in Belgium!

Free access to the outdoor swimming pool from July to August.

You'll enjoy a large sliding bay window in the living room with new: gas stove imitating a wood stove with the same magic: the beauty of a wood stove without the inconvenience of smoke and dust!, a dining table, Free WIFI and TV, a sofa bed for 2 persons, an open kitchen with electric stove, a conventional oven and a microwave, refrigerator, coffee machine, toaster, kettle, and all the usual utensils to cook your favorite dishes, a bathroom with toilet, sink and small bath with rain shower, a bedroom with a 2-persons bed and 1 upper bed for 1 person (more suitable for 1 child ), a terrace with a barbecue and outdoor furniture, a parking in front of the cottage, a beautiful park around the cottage and playground for children.

Guest access

- Shared outdoor swimming pool (Free entrance in July-August)
- Barbecue on the terrace of the cottage
- Outside children's Games

Interaction with guests

We leave tourist brochures in the cottage. The nature is our main trump but, you'll find castles, abbeys, lovely old and typical walloon stone villages. Last but not least, you'll find a lot of local beers, but beware... they are strong :-).

Location is good with lots to do and lots of information provided. But the cottage fit out is old and would benefit from new sheets and bedding in particular. Not as cosy as we expected.

Response from Sébastien:
Thank you for your comments. I am a bit surprised as many equipments were changed recently in this cottage, more precisely the wardrobe, buffet, dining table, coffee table, sofa bed, oven, and stove were all replaced this year. The bed sheets are also new from this year. For both sheets and furniture we opted intentionally for a traditional cottage style which may not be what you were expecting, but although tastes may differ, please know we are working continuously to improve the cottages.

The cottages are located in a gorgeous region of Belgium, a lovely vacation getaway. There is so much to do and see in the area. The cottages are well-equipped and clean. Sebastien is extremely prompt with responses to any questions or problems. For access to the swimming pool in the low season (not July-August), be sure to communicate ahead of your trip.

Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour dans ce logement. Le cadre est magnifique. Sébastien s'est montré très à l'écoute. Tout était vraiment très propre et fonctionnel. Un logement à conseiller.

We had a very pleasant stay! Everything is exactly as described, also the pictures. The shower is very nice and the gas heating works well and was cosy. The terrace is also very nice. We also had a warm welcome with explanation about the house and the environment. We would really recommend this place!

I have enjoyed my stay in this cottage, for the price/quality it is a good stay! the area is great with a lot of nice features for walking and adventures. With the temperatures we had 32 Celsius the swimming pool was also nice. Also, Sebastien was good in contact with us prior to our arrival and all was clear so no need for him during our stay :)

We had a nice stay at the cottage. It was in a quiet little park, no big fireworks for our anxious dog and the house had a great view. A comfortable stay!

We (2 adults and 2 girls)have had a great stay in the cottage house of Sebastien! The house is in good shape and recently tastefully refurnished. For the size and price of it, it couldn't be much better! It's on the edge of a peaceful tiny bungalow park, of which you hardly notice you are part of it. The best thing is the view of a descending field. We were so lucky to see clouds in the valley below that two out of three mornings!! The village itself has rich touristy history. Along the river one can find amazing late 19th century villa's, Of which you can get a taste in the 'Villa 1900' Forest, fields, and cliffs along the river. Old beauty of Dinant and other mideaval villages nearby. Perfect!

Response from Sébastien:
Thank you to describe the village of Waulsort! He has, indeed , a rich touristic history who began in early 19th century with people from England. It' s why there are so many villa's "belle époque" and hotels. There are so many things to visit in the neighborhoud! Thank you Wilco for your stay in our cottage!

My name is Sébastien, with a few people I manage a set of furnished accommodations in Belgium. We particularly love the Meuse (Maas) valley near Dinant where the nature is beautiful and the countryside full of interesting cultural things to visit. It is why we rent cottages i…
