About this listing
A cozy studio of ca. 50m2 opposite the ancient town gate of Vilnius. Newly furnished with state-of-the-art equipment and an artistic touch. Located in 5-10 minutes walking distance from the Old Town, train/bus station, open market and supermarket.
When furnishing our apartment, many people advised us to buy cheap, "good-enough-for-guests" furniture and equipment. Well, we didn't. We created this place for our own well-being during our stays in Vilnius - without a TV set, but with new appliances, a personal touch and an oriental carpet, too.
The bathroom was designed by artist Antanas Pužauskas, who also created the interiour of many Lithuanian public spaces. The furniture is either Made in Lithuania or antique, or both.
We are happy to make our cozy and convenient space available for you while we're away. Please treat it like your own.
The house is safe with a modern digital code lock. Our studio is one of six apartments on the top floor. You will be provided with a magnetic key to access the front door, and of course the apartment key. The inner courtyard is not available for parking.
Interaction with guests
With any questions, don't hesitate to contact me or our local friend Daiva, who is fluent in English and German and happy to help. She will also provide you with the keys. Please let us know beforehand when to expect you, so Daiva can plan accordingly.
The studio is situated right opposite the Gate of Dawn, the entrance to the Old Town. You can eat out at one of the numerous restaurants and cafés, or do your own shopping at the daily farmers' market (350m), a supermarket (300m) or the weekly organic market (800m).
Take a walk along the remnants of the city wall, which will take you past the old fortifications into the vibrant artistic neighbourhood Užupis, home to an alternative lifestyle with nice eateries and shops.
In the evening, try music club "Tamsta" or go for a degustation in the nearby beer bar "Senasis Radijas".
The house is also located conveniently close to the train/bus station (800m) and airport (5km) of Vilnius. While parking in front of the house can be difficult, free parking is available within a short walking distance. Various bus stops are also close to the house (350m).
Taxis are more expensive if hailed in the street. We recommend ordering a taxi to the address. The taxi company will tell you the colour and brand of the car to look out for, and the time it will take to arrive. Some drivers will wait for you at the gate next to the house, instead of the entrance door.
You are welcome to use the rechargeable electronic ticket for public transport in Vilnius, "vilniečio kortelė". The ticket, and instructions, can be found in the kitchen table drawer.
Other things to note
Vilnius offers 1001 places to party. Our apartment is not one of them. It is the perfect place for a relaxing stay and as a starting point to explore Vilnius. To avoid distraction we decided against a TV set, but you are welcome to use the stereo set and high-speed WiFi.
Smoking or open fire are not allowed in the house or apartment, so please: no tobacco, no candles.
In the kitchen you will find some basic staples such as tea and coffee, pasta and some spices. Feel free to refill what you use up.
We also provide some wine and beer for a small charge.
We encourage waste separation, and general respect towards the environment. Also, we appreciate your respect for the neighbours.
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund, including service fees.

I come originally from Northern Germany, and have lived in different European countries with my family (husband and two children).
I'm not on the Book of Faces, and don't smoke (but I have other flaws). I try to limit my ecological footprint.
I like pets, but will be thankful to your cat for keeping its distance from my room during my stay, because I am slightly allergic.
My hobbies are postcrossing, gardening, choir singing, and my own holiday home in Vilnius (Lithuania).
