The Fifth Ward is where the Irish immigrants arrived in the 1820's to work as laborers. It retains its Irish roots with the Museum of Newport Irish History and Irish flags throughout the neighborhood. It's also the center of the annual Newport Saint Patrick's Day Parade. Situated just south of Thames Street, this neighborhood is within walking distance to all the restaurants, shops, cafes and bars. It has four parks and scenic views of the Newport harbor.
