About this listing
The baker and a pizzeria next door, the shop and café round the corner, the pebble beach just opposite and the two restaurants nearby. The spacious south-facing terrace enjoys a splendid view of the River Orb with it's pebble beach and the surrounding vine-clad hil.
Les Hirondelles has been renovated to a high standard, retaining the original features of character. The rooms have high-ceilings, large windows, original marble chimneypieces and beautiful 19th century tiled floors.
Interaction with guests
We, Monique and Reinoud Weggelaar-Degenaar, a Dutch couple living and working for many years in Languedoc, have fallen in love with the sun, the good food, the wine and especially the calm, the space and the magnificent landscape of the Midi.
Under the name of ‘MidiMaison’, we offer you our holiday homes. Houses some of which we have found and restored over the years, others that belong to friends or family. But all of them done up with respect for traditional detail and modern comfort. Needless to say that we check our houses thoroughly and frequently.
We live nearby, so if any problems should occur or if you have any questions; we're there to help, all year.
The Mediterranean is a 40-minute drive away, Roquebrun has the beautiful river Orb, with its many beaches, easy access to swimming, kayaking, hiking, etc. The village is surrounded by vineyards, lots of small winemakers to visit, the wine is of a very good quality!
For culture and shopping! Montpellier, Narbonne and Beziers are certainly worthwhile and not far.
There are mountains, rivers and lakes, ancient cities (Béziers, Narbonne, Montpellier and medieval Carcassonne), thermal springs, abbeys, cathedrals, châteaux and the Cathar Castles.
This is superb cycling and walking country and there are numerous walking and cycling trails throughout the region. There are bicycles available for rent in many places.
The area is easily accessible by air, with the nearest airport in Béziers serviced by Ryanair and FlyBe. Other airports include Montpellier, Carcassonne, Toulouse and Marseille.
Béziers and Narbonne are TGV stations, the fast (300kmph) train connection to Paris. By car, the region is easily accessible via the excellent French motorway system.
