FRIENDS, PLEASE DON'T SUBMIT BOOKING REQUEST 'TIL YOU'VE HEARD FROM US about price, availability. You'll block calendar! Spend cozy evenings reading beside the fire in our spacious living area - or listening to the sounds of nature on the front porch of our beautiful, rustic log cabin. Some of New York's best trout fishing is just down the hill on the creek - which feeds into the Esopus River a mile away. Another mile up the road are some of New York State's best hiking and camping trails.
Hello! PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT A BOOKING REQUEST UNTIL YOU HAVE HEARD FROM US! AirB changed their system to make it tediously time-consuming to decline a reservation; our place may have been booked on another site or the price may be showing wrong, etc., so it's very important to ask us before you try to book.
Also please do not inquire for short stays that are more than 3 weeks away; we only rent out on other sites until then because AirBnb add so many fees!
Our price per night goes down the longer you stay. Our price is $400 for the first two nights and $80 - 100 for each additional night; if you see a $100/nt price, that is for a week's stay. If you want to book with us, don't submit a reservation request, just a query, so that I can adjust the price to reflect your dates. AirBnB fees may cause a higher price to show than you see for this listing on other sites.

Our cabin is beautifully decorated with local antiques; and we can tell you all the best places to look for good stuff. This is a perfect spot for nature lovers who want true serenity and the glory of the mountains and sunshine all around you. No matter the season, you will find your soul restored after a weekend (or if you're lucky, a whole week) at our place.
We love dogs and cats as long as they don't scratch the furniture. They will thank you for taking them to this little piece of heaven!
A note -- we have a one-week minimum until about 3 weeks ahead. Unfortunately we can't indicate this on the calendar.
The house is yours to use as your own castle until check-out, as long as you are respectful and quiet!
Interaction with guests
You are all on your own!
Other things to note
The cabin has everything you need but nothing extra -- no a/c, no TV (but at the moment we do have wifi), no cell service. It is for nature lovers who want to experience a little isolation but not too much! Our price is on the lower end for our valley, but you are paying for location and not fancy, renovated space!
We do offer shorter stays, but only 3 weeks before a given date if it is still open. Until then, we have a one-week minimum, so try us 3 weeks before your date if you are only looking for a weekend stay and we are not yet at the 3-week mark.
Dogs and cats (non-scratching/destroying/peeing ones, that is) are welcome, and the price (Nov – June, $350 for the first two nights and $80 for each additional night, $500 for first three nights on holidays, $200 a night for X-Mas and New Year’s; Jul-Oct -- $400 for first two nights and $80 for each additional night, $600 for three-day holiday weekends or $1100 for holiday weeks) covers up to four people.
All fees are included. We don’t offer discounts except those we sometimes post on the site for longer stays.
We do not have wifi or a television, thank goodness! -- just a landline, a stereo with a radio and an ipod jack, and mountains and nature and clean air and birds and deer and bear sometimes passing through. There is free wifi in town at Sweet Sue’s and at the library. Cell phones do not work in our area.
If you are ready to book, I will prepare a rental agreement for you and send you a link to our reservation page; we do reservations through our secure server on our guesthouse website. We do not charge a damage deposit as long as you understand that your card would be charged for any major damages (e.g., your dog destroying the front door — normal daily wear like a glass breaking, etc., we of course do not charge for). Once we receive payment, we will e-mail you a packet full of guest information about the house and the area, including directions. It should answer all your questions, but you can feel free to call as well.
Because we get so many zillions of queries, we prefer to use e-mail to correspond until you are really ready to book.
We are a family of four -- mama, papa and two kids. We own a restaurant nearby to our guesthouse, where our guests eat breakfast; Evelyn is also an educator and writer and Michael is a musician and PhD candidate (literature). We live on the top two floors of the guesthouse, and use the first two floors for the guesthouse. Our cabin, two hours from NYC, is a wonderful escape from the city, surrounded by mountains and free from cell phones, internet and other impediments to the Beauty and Truth.
