This is an lovely outdoor space which was featured on Channel 5's programme To B&B The Best and we are based right next to the River Ure in a stunning location in Ripon about a ten minute walk from the city centre and Cathedral. The Rabbit Hole and land is a tribute to Lewis Carroll and Alice in Wonderland, so come and see the secret garden and feel real peace and tranquility. Perfect for that special anniversary, or as a retreat away from the pressures of life or to be creatively inspired .

The space

Please read the details carefully because we want to meet your expectations and for you to enjoy this beautiful space.

This is a spacious outdoor glamping venue and you will be staying in our self catering log cabin, which has had an amazing Channel 5 makeover. It has a double bed, two bedside tables and themed table and chairs, a fridge, an outdoor loo and and an eco shower just a couple of metres from the cabin .

IN ADDITION: We now have a lovely outdoor infra red sauna so bring your costume! It's free to use but you need to sign that you've read the instructions.

The log cabin and garden has an Alice in Wonderland theme and you can wander through the gardens and see the various sculptures and gateway to the secret garden. Lewis Caroll's father spent 16 years in Ripon so you'll see lots of references to his work in the area. You can read more at therabbithole.space

We have 200 metres of free fishing rights on our land and for a small charge (about £6) day tickets are available from many shops to be able to fish on Ripon Piscatorial water, which covers approximately 12 miles of the River Ure.

We have a barbecue area next to the river and tranquil places to sit and reflect. Or you can sit at the Tea Party table next to the folly to enjoy your meals.

The heating is from a wood burning stove and we have a smoke alarms
and carbon monoxide alarm in the lodge so very safe as well as a fire blanket and extinguisher. Light the log fire, open the doors to the cabin and bring the outdoor to the indoors whilst being warm and cozy.

Walk into Ripon for your evening meals as there are plenty of places to eat within a ten minute walk away.

If you would like a special welcome pack, Prosecco or Champagne /Chocolates/Flowers, let us know when booking (you set the budget £20/£30/£40) and we can arrange for it to be waiting for you on arrival.

Guest access

The Rabbit Hole Log Cabin and eco loo, shower and now sauna is for your use and the stunning riverside 4 acre gardens are for you to enjoy. This is a destination you'll want to come back to. There are also long walks or bike rides in the countryside easily accessible from the venue. We also have Alpaca's, chickens, and turkeys so if you want to see a small holding in operation you are in the right place.

Interaction with guests

We live on site so if you need anything we will be happy to help. We love to make your break a special one so anything we can do to make it the most memorable one you've ever had, we will do our best to exceed your expectations.

For all those who would like a creative weekend we can also arrange a number of creative activities ; a 2 hour Fly Fishing Lessons or a 2 hour Needlefelting lessons to make an Alpaca out of wool ; an art lesson ; mindfulness session or yoga . I surprised my partner with a weekend away for his birthday and what a treat it was! This places is a lovely get away, the cabin is very cute and all the added touches go a long way. Breakfast was lovely every morning and Angela also organised a little basket of treats on arrival for the birthday boy! The town was only a 10 minute walk and had lots of pubs and places to eat, also a cute little independent cinema too. We were kept warm with plenty of wood and Angela was happy to supply more when we ran low. We would definitely recommend this place to others!

If you’re after something a little different then this is he place for you. The little touches were perfect, the river view was something special and the accommodation is romantic and cosy. Angela is a great host, very kind and helpful and was never too busy to talk. Perfect for a romantic anniversary get away.

My girlfriend and I had a lovely stay at the Rabbit Hole Lodge. Angela has made the cabin very comfortable and she was very helpful when we wanted to have a barbecue one evening. The location is perfect, with the garden on the banks of the river Ure. It was a great place from which to start walks into the countryside. We would certainly like to come again!

The Rabbit Hole is a beautiful place to stay and is well recommended! The gardens are amazing and great to explore, but even if it is raining (raining heavily, in our case) there is plenty to do in the summer house. We went out for food in Ripon, but on our return, we sat by the fire with some wine, a game of cards and the radio on; it was the perfect relaxing weekend for our 6-year anniversary. The small touches in this air bnb are great! From the breakfast, to the infrared sauna, to the alpaca small holding. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and made you feel right at home. The hosts and the Rabbit Hole were everything we imagined and more! Keep up the amazing work you do.

We loved our stay in the quirky Alice in a Wonderland themed property. The place was scrupulously clean and tidy and beautifully presented. The log fire was a real bonus as well as the infrared sauna. The outside shower worked well and the toilet too, both of which were clean and spider free. The garden area was perfect to relax in at the start and end of the day and the alpacas, turkeys and chickens were an added bonus to the whole relaxing experience. Angela made us feel very welcome and spent time chatting to us about the property and animals and we would thoroughly recommend the place to others. A real gem.

One of the lovely things about AirBnB is experiencing the small touches of caring that are the mark of a great host, and Angela's place has that in abundance. From the care and attention to detail that's obviously been given to creating such a unique place through to lighting the stove before our arrival and the lovely breakfast (among many other things), it was lovely to feel that we were in the hands of someone who cared about our experience and was able to deliver on it. Sitting under a plum tree watching the river at the end of the day was absolutely lovely. Thanks for enabling us to have such a memorable time.
